I started in Ravnica so I'm quite new player myself... But been enthusiastically learning the game ever since. Online games are usually little different than what the game is in general. All the rules and triggering effects don't always seem to work as they do in real game with cards. Plus with playing with good guys is always fun
But as it comes to online playing, you can get and play Magic: The Gathering - Tactics for free from Steam for example, though it's not so much a card game as it's just strategy game with MtG-like graphics. Duels of the Planeswalkers seems to be more like the original card game, but I haven't been able to test it out yet since the money issue. Maybe at some point I'll get it and start playing it also, but now at the moment Diablo 3 is eating all my gaming time
