  2. Re: Black Metal I listen to too many black metal bands to name but I am particularly fond of 90s black metal above all. It doesn't matter to me what style, how revered or reviled the band is; if I like it, I'll listen to it. I have a pretty solid CD collection of 90s black metal releases which I am very proud of.
  3. Re: New Purchases/Acquisitions Very cool, I actually have that Sigh pressing as well! And I contacted Kyrck via email which you can find off their website. I told them which albums I wanted to buy and they emailed me back the total cost and told me where to send the paypal payment.
  4. Re: New Purchases/Acquisitions I just ordered a copy of Arcturus' Constellation on CD from Kyrck Productions. If you want a copy, it may be wise to order one now because Kryck reissues are usually pretty limited. It also features the tracks from My Angel as well as some other stuff.
  5. Re: some good gothic metal bands? Yes, an odd name for a metal band. Most of their stuff isn't gothic, but The Weeping of a Thousand Years definitely is, and it's drenched in such a thick atmosphere.
  6. Re: some good gothic metal bands? I strongly dislike the usage of 'gothic' by the general metal community. Bands with an image, or bands with female singers are often simply labelled as gothic out of laziness and for reasons I cannot understand. To me, these albums are very gothic and are amongst my favourites: Theatres des Vampires - Bloody Lunatic Asylum Cradle of Filth - The Principle of Evil Made Flesh Moonspell - Irreligious Deinonychus - The Weeping of a Thousand Years Cultus Sanguine - Shadows' Blood

Re: New Purchases/Acquisitions CD originals: Agatus - Dawn of Martyrdom Agatus - The Weaving Fates Argentum - Ad Interitum Funebrarum Death - Spiritual Healing Naer Mataron - Up From the Ashes Maniac Butcher - ?erná Krev Virgin Prunes - The Moon Looked Down and Laughed Love Like Blood - Flags of Revolution CD reissues from Kyrck: Thorns - Stigma Diabolicum Order of the Ebon Hand - The Mystic Path to the Netherworld Arcturus - Constellation
  8. Re: Albums you wish you could unhear. I don't think there's any albums that I would like to unhear. If I listen to an album and don't like it, I don't hold a grudge against that band because I realize that others probably like it for one reason or another, and so I just move on.

    Dimmu Borgir!

Re: Dimmu Borgir! I think For All Tid is a classic of mid 90s black metal and their best. I enjoy their first few albums, especially Spiritual Black Dimensions and Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia but unfortunately Dimmu has gotten really stale this past decade. Regarding guitarists, Astennu was hands-down the best guitarist this band ever had. And I wouldn't really say that Old Man's Child was ever really any more straight-forward black metal than Dimmu because OMC is very death metal influenced and has never really, truly fit the black metal mold. I think Galder has always been more inspired more so by death and thrash metal than black metal, despite OMC being labelled as black metal. Born of the Flickering is by far, their best album in my opinion.
