I haven't indulged since I was in my 20's when $100 used to buy us 2 slabs and 2 bottles of whiskey and we'd drink it in a weekend.

$50 is my limit now, if I can't get something reasonable for $50 I'll give up drinking. I've got plenty of other things to spend $200 on, most of which last longer than a bottle of booze, or the feeling booze gives me.

I've given up with wish lists. Sure it would be nice to try them but this country has fucked over any chance of making that worthwhile and with the price of booze indexed, and a 120 point rise in 20 years it's not going to get any better. Maybe we have to pay for our 'free' medical system, but I'm sick of paying such a high price for things like booze that really don't add that much to my life. These days I buy a bottle of Cinnamon bourbon and a bottle of Buffalo Trace when I see them below $40 and $50 respectively, they last me 3 or 4 months and I'm fine with that.

It all depends how keen you are. According to what I can find the Redemption website says that high rye is 96 Proof, which for rough calculations is 2x ABV (it's actually closer to 1.8) and therefore 48%, that stuff is special order and not many places here advertise it or price it. With the stuff Dan sells at 84 Proof (about 42%) you can automatically expect it to be over $100 because of our cost of ABV and the 'prestige' label 40%+ comes with. There is however one place in Australia that will import a Redemption High Rye at 57.2%, its the 10 year old shit, and they'll do it for the bargain basement price of $399.99 a bottle. It's so good you don't even get a discount for bulk orders because the case price will still cost you $400 a bottle.

One time at the bottle shop, about 35 years ago I bought my mates kids, (aged 9 and 11) some chocolates with liqueur in them. I didn't know, or didn't know enough to care, that there was such things as chocolates with booze in them so I just said yes when the kids asked for chocolates. The dude at the register looked at me strange as the kids grabbed them and then said, "they've got liqueur in them", to which I replied, "ahh well, they'll spit them out if they don't like them". Still not sure to this day if they ate them because I said they'd spit them out or if they actually enjoyed them.

Dentists aren't the bastards they used to be. I had 4 partial teeth and two more the gum had grown over removed a few years ago and apart from the discomfort of what felt like 10 hands and enough tools to fill 3 tool chests shoved in my gob I barely felt anything. In fact the biggest pain was the fact that the dentist made me watch the Food Network channel on the roof tv while he worked!!

I got my top 2 done when I was 18 and the dentist told me as he shoved the pilers in my mouth that it was going to feel like he was ripping my brain out through my nose. If there was ever any proof needed that I had a small brain it was the fact that pulling both teeth didn't hurt. The bottom two came out by themselves....eventually. Two hours after I had my top two out I was on a 5 hour road trip to a boozey weekend of fishing.
