PATENT / DEATHNAP - Split JOY - No Light Below ......neither of these would be on my favourite jazz records list.....

....I think I could easily put "Shades Of God" in my top 40 or 50, with no hesitation.....probably even higher than that....

.....since I brought up "Kind Of Blue" earlier.... MILES DAVIS - Kind Of Blue .....easily in my top 10 favourite jazz records of all time....probably in the top 5.... ....rating jazz records is very difficult for me.....next to impossible to narrow down my choices....maybe I'll have to try and make a list sometime....not that anyone could give a shit but me....

....yeah...I agree about "Someday My Prince Will Come"....it gets overlooked a lot....many peeps always go directly to "Kind Of Blue" or "Bitches Brew" or even "Birth Of The Cool"....all completely understandably so....but I find myself listening to this more and more over the last few years....Miles was at the height of his expression with this record and it has intimacy that even "Kind Of Blue" lacked overall ...I really like Hank Mobley on this record very much although my favourite track, the title track has Coltrane on saxophone, recorded just before he left the quintet.... MILES DAVIS - Sketches Of Spain ....also....nice to see MASTODON on your playlist....they seem to get a ton of hate, but I have always enjoyed them quite a lot....

....one of my favourite bands from the 1970's was FOCUS....they were always overlooked as an elite prog band, but they had some of the best musicians of all time especially JAN AKKERMAN...one of the most talented guitarists who ever lived....THIJS VAN LEER is also amazing and still leads FOCUS....just found this clip of an appearance on "Don Kirschner 's Rock Concert ".....I've seen it before, but it's been a little while.... ....nice line-up.....I'm assuming you'll be checking out DRAB MAJESTY....noticed BRUCE LAMONT as one of the performances also.... ....looking forward to the day I can get back to shows....hoping RoadBurn Festival is a go next year as well as Fire On The Mountain....we'll see, I guess... SOILENT GREEN - Inevitable Collapse In The Face Presence Of Conviction ....last time I saw these guys was at Maryland Death Fest years ago....as tight a live band as there is.....
