thank you! mostly into stuff like mayhem, burzum, darkthrone, gorgoroth (''mainstream'' bands, ya know), but aside from bm bands, i like cannibal corpse, exodus, metallica, death, iron maiden

hi! I don't play anything but soon I'll get an electric guitar

A lot of great bands there!  Hope you enjoy your guitar.

Hmm, i feel like these guys are a little noisier than RotUGF.  There's also some cybergrind elements in CUM's work.

A little noisier is never a bad thing!  I think some cybergrind carries over to Reek too, even though they want to call it "industrial."

I particularly enjoy the split with Satanic Warmaster. If you're not able to find it, I can message you a link.

If it is with SW, then I think I should be able to find it!

From what I have heard, the split with Evil is pretty good to (at least the Evil side, that is).

I hear that. Ya gotta jump on it when the labels first put them up for sale. The stuff is fantastic, though. You can find some of it on YouTube and probably some downloads on various websites.

I really need to get over it and check his stuff out more seriously.  I have liked the few tracks that I have heard.

    Vothana- "Commando"

Did anyone else get their hands on this? Loving it more with every listen

I keep meaning to check this band out, but the drama surrounding the limitation keeps pushing me away!  Some of his stuff recently sold for over $1000 on discogs not long ago.

Lots of great songs on that album, if you break them down into individual tracks. That's what makes the album such a huge seller. Heaps of great tracks.

That's my thought too.  I don't go to the album for a well-put-together whole (as I would Filosofem, for instance), but to listen to/treat it as a compilation of great tracks.

I grabbed her and moved her off the carpet just in time. What the hell, I ask you, is wrong with a perfectly nice expanse of floor? Why must the puke go on things? Cats are the best.

Haha!  I have to do this every other week it seems!

They're superb. I usually prefer the originals, but I think for those two the re-makes were better. Do you like Japanese horror films?

I want to say that I like Japanese horror (I like a lot of Japanese things actually), but I have never been able to see the originals because my local libraries don't have copies.  Still, I think the American remakes are excellent movies in their own right.

'Esoteric Warfare' is easier to listen to due to its more standard riff structures (sort of), but the tracks are just so strange and weak. Teloch, the new guitarist/songwriter was all at sea. At least 'Ordo ad Chao' has that gay abandon that is Blasphemer's last musical tantrum before he left the band. It has a degree of artistic thrust that 'Esoteric' just lacks.

But I don't enjoy listening to either album in I'm being honest and they don't get played at parties at Castle Requiem.

I don't think I have ever managed to listen through the entirety of Esoteric Warfare, while I have for Ordo ad Chao.  I didn't like the few tracks that I had heard, and didn't think the rest was really worth my time.  I guess you are right that an album like that would edge out as being worse when compared with an album that is utterly forge table yet tolerable.

I would get to it sooner than later. I'd say it's along the same lines as the demo, if not even more primitive and punishing. It also sounds more raw to me, but it could be that I've only listened to this on cassette with my crappy speakers

It is interesting that they would go for a more raw sound on a full length than the demo!  I will have to give it a listen sometime soon.

I don't know if you're meaning like lyrically or musically though, I tend not to be interested in lyrics so much, I'm all about the music. For instance I've always been a fan of drudkh, I only found out earlier this year that they're considered NSBM, when I first learned that I thought "well that's fucked then, cant listen to that anymore" but then I thought, the lyrics are in Ukrainian anyway, which I dont speak, fuck it the music is quality, I care not for their ideology. So I guess for me it's the energy of the music that purges away the negativity... does that make sense? Probably not haha

Not just lyrics, though.  Sometimes the negativity extends to cover art too sometimes.  I suppose that I am pushing the boundaries of the discussion, though, as my response was at least partly referring to power electronics/noise music as well (stuff like Xenophobic Ejaculation or Zyklon SS).

I think that Drudkh is a highly political band, and their political views seems to come out at least partly through their music itself.  However, I never really considered their music to be negative - it seems too romantic and warm for that.

In terms of metal, I was thinking about stuff along the lines of Konflict (whose music videos consisted of clips of various bombings/gunfights from the Sri Lanakan civil war) or Catasexual Urge Motivation (with pictures of gore/corpses as album art).  Sometime the negativity seems too strong to just dissolve into the music.
