You're right, it's a taste issue for me. It's juvenile, too - DT were a huge part of my metal experience in high school and shortly thereafter. At the time, their shit was nearly impossible to find. I had to special order The Gallery and wait something like two months for it to finally show up. The way I felt bringing that CD home may be the most excited I've ever been about a CD in my life.
When Projector came out, I was really let down. They got really popular in my town right around them and I had the typical knee-jerk reaction: fuck those guys! Everything I've heard since then hasn't appealed to me.
Were you from a town of 100?
DT is still a rather obscure band in terms of mass appeal anyway. As with most metal in general.

Well they may not be a Death Metal band anymore, but they're still the best metal band to come out of that scene. The refusal to add the moniker of "death" to the particular style the band plays may come from a more purist standpoint?
And I disagree about them not releasing anything worth listening to in the last twenty years.
Damage Done, Character and Fiction are all really good albums.
It sounds like the dislike comes from a point of view of taste, and not necessarily a point of view of quality. And that's fine.

Solid album. I'm a big Here In After fan, too.
I am too, this one just happens to be my favorite though.

Immolation- Close to a World Below

No you're doing the lords work.
But go fuck yourself though

Every time someone names Slipknot as one of their favorite bands a young man in Adelaide, South Australia decides that life really is worth living, just for the purpose of ridding the planet of the scourge of this fucking terrifyingly awful, awful band.
Immolation, Death, Dark Tranquility, At the Gates, Necrophagist.

Entombed- Left hand Path.
-
Necrophagist- Onset of Putrefaction
-
90's Death, Necrophagist, Immolation, Morbid Angel.
If you want to throw melody in there Dark Tranquility is my favorite, and I know that At the Gate's Slaughter of the Soul wrought a lot of the Emo/Angst-Metal crap we saw in the early and late 2000's, but that album is still fucking awesome.

Id post pictures but I don't want AtTheGates jerking off to pictures of my wife.

I got married yesterday. That is all. The wife and I are going to Cancun next week.

I think I may be going the way of RO here. This is kind of untenable.

It seems that a lot of posts leading up to the distruption were deleted whenever the admin was screwing with things. This new layout is awful by the way.

I think Individual Thought Patterns has the best material Schuldiner ever released under the band name Death. That's like a Progressive Metal version of Pink Floyds Animals to me. Both in my top ten albums of all time. Lot of anger and cynicism in both. Vocally I think he was at his peak with ITP. When he started to do the shrieking in the later albums it kind of put me off a little bit. ITP sounds like he was angry and wanted to yell at someone, I like that primitive type of vocal expression. It feels more genuine.

I believe it matches the shape of a Xanax tablet.

How does it feel living in a state where a minority of the population has complete political control over the governmental apparatus? It seems at times like a lot of that Australian lore is internet hype, but then I see things like a newspaper article about an Australian man that wrestled a shark to save his friend, or see a video of a 90 year old man that can barely walk kick a poisonous snake it the face when it lunges at him. It sounds like a crazy place, but people adapt, like how I have adapted to not be taken out by the Mormon secret police. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk -
Oh yeah and giant fucking crocodiles that can survive in salt water! What the fuck man.

The music is good, it just doesn't fit the mold to me of a metal band. They fit the label "metalcore" quite well. I think they have more of a hardcore punk outlook, attitude, and style, but there are plenty of metal influences in there as well. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk -
Steve Irwin told me that the most venomous snake in the world is in the desert, and that taipans and brown snakes are distributed all over the continent including the non-tropical regions. And those fucking funnel web spiders are everywhere. And I can never go for a fucking swim in the ocean because of those fucking jellyfish! Don't lie to me man, Australia will murder me twelve times before I left the airport.Avoid the tropics and you're fine. We just tell the rest of the world everything here wants to kill you because secretly it's paradise. -
Jane Doe- Converge Does anyone think this band is an actual metal band? I am constantly finding lists of the best metal albums over some arbitrary amount of time(because humans have some inane compulsion to make lists of things) and I've found this album on a lot of those lists. Is it me or is this just a hardcore band?

I myself never even want children' date=' nor do I know if I ever even want to get married. I do not believe I need to prove my love by having someones last name, although I would not have really an issue with it per say. I get a lot of shit from people when I tell them I want no children ever. haha[/quote'] I knew a lot of people from my hometown who thought I was gay since I turned 30 and wasn't married with a child. Most of these people had gotten married either straight out of high school, had two or three childred before they reached there mid- twenties and where under mid five digit debt loads. And I have never felt that I was wrong for not doing the same.

Move to Texas.Always wanted to fire a gun...for obvious reasons no shooting range in the world is gonna let a vision impaired person anywhere near loaded weapons though. -
Sounds vaguely familiar. Not the catfish and bud lite (oh dear lord) but the overwhelming need to act a certain way based on the environment. For me it's a need to drink beer and cook meat until it's pretty much charcoal whenever the sun is shining' date=' or not shining, and finishing sentences with the word "mate"...mate.[/quote'] I'm descended from Scotch-Irish hill people. I say the word ya'll a lot. And to my people watery mass produced beer is mothers milk.

Globalisation is awesome though right? The future is totaly going to be a Star Trek like utopia when every bit of land in the world is owned by a very few people, and there is no more work because of automation and offshoring of job!!!!! Right? Right?

Black Sabbath- Master of Reality
I think I've given up on Opeth ever being what they were from My Arms Your Hearse to Blackwater Park.
They went from being the best progressive metal band on the planet to being just another progressive rock band.
Very Sad.
