  1. Sacrilege- The Fifth Season

I'm starting to think that our benevolent moderator Blut was onto something with his suggestion that Melodic death metal went from being an actual sub subgenre of Death Metal into being power metal with harsh vocals and blast beats.

I think that is an awesome amalgamation though.

By the way Sacrilege was a better band than In Flames by far.  It seems kind of sill that Daniel Svenssen would break up a great band just to play drums for the most overrated metal band of the last 20 years.

  2. It really annoys me when my neighbour complains because my friend has parked his car behind mine, slightly in front of my neighbours house, when the whole road is empty, give me strength.

    A. Do you have a dog?

    B. Does your dog shit?

    C. Does your neighbor have a lawn for your hypothetical dog that shits, to shit on?

  3. The Haunted- The Haunted

The Haunted is a lame band.  They seem to have taken all the worst tendencies of Melodeth and Pantera style Groove metal and combined them into one underwhelming package.

Anders Bjoler should stop being the lead guitar player in all of his bands.  He is a fantastic rhythm player, but he cannot play leads at even a passable level.

And another thing I've noticed is that there were not many great guitar players that came out of the Gothenburg metal scene were there?

  4. Ulver is a favorite of mine. Bergtatt in particular has an awesome atmosphere, and the production is decent. I'm a big fan of Nattens Madrigal, their other black metal album, but the recording is intentionally horrible. Then they totally changed direction. "The Marriage Of Heaven And Hell" is an acquired taste, to be sure.

I've kinda fell in love with Darkthrones first two black metal albums(Transylvanian Hunger less so) so I can say that the production doesn't really bother me much anymore.  Just takes a little getting used to listening to a more punk kind of recording style when you are coming from listening to mostly well produced death metal albums exclusively.

  5. The Shadowthrone is my favorite of theirs, but I like their first four or five albums. I go back and forth on Volcano. All that stuff was my jam in my late teens. Still love it. Have you listened to Ulver's "Bergtatt" yet?

I've listened to some Ulver but not "Bergtatt" yet.

Will do though.  Usually when I listen to a band for the first time I usually always go for the consensus best material they've ever produced. If I'm impressed then I go back and forth through their collection to find what I like.

  6. Yes, Varg REALLY is racist and an antisemite. I've been a fan of his music since about '94. I've read shitloads of interviews with him, I've read his books and all the stuff on his websites. He is definitely a %100 BIG TIME racist and an antisemite. Although, he is not a Nazi in that he is not at all socialist, and Nazism is a combination of nationalism and socialism. Varg is only nationalist. I love his music but I think he is personally a horrendous person.

You know there is such a thing as right wing anti-Capitalism correct?

Read something other than Jonah Goldberg before you give us all our next history lesson.

  7. Atheist- Unquestionable Presence/ Piece of Time.

    Death - Individual Thought Patterns

I've listened to that album three times a week for about two or three months now.

Chuck Schuldiner being dead makes me very depressed.
