  1. Re: Best Blue Oyster Cult Album?

    Yep, I'm from England.
BOC have got a new box set coming out, which I will buy. I have the following Remastered CDs which will be duplicated: BOC Tyranny & Mutation Secret Treaties Agents of Fortune Some Enchanted Evening (Expanded+DVD) If you want them, drop me a PM with your address and you can have them.
  2. Re: Hog Justice Room - Who Would You Lock In?

Shite bullets and a pointy stick - like it. But this monkey does not need poking he is bad ass - it's doing things to Bieber that are scarred onto my memory - I think I need therapy. I hate Bieber, but what that monkey did was sick. The emotional squirrel has got his eyes closed - that rodent is emotional damaged I'd like to put Jon Bon Jovi into the Hog Justice Room (soon to be renamed Monkey Mayhem and Murder Room) and also
Pass on my regards to that poor squirrel...
  3. Re: Metal Forum Top 10 Heavy/Traditional Metal Bands The whole 'heavy metal' debate is one which is similar to arguing about 'how long is a piece of string'. What constitutes 'metal' nowadays has changed drastically compared to the '70s and early '80s. The big names which always spark debate are Motorhead and AC/DC. But in the '70s they were metal: end of debate. Nowadays the very same journos and fans who called them metal back then refer to them as rock 'n' roll. Keeping this in mind, and in keeping with the spirit of the OP, here's my top 10: 1-AC/DC 2-Blue Oyster Cult 3-Thin Lizzy 4-Motorhead 5-Twisted Sister 6-Judas Priest 7-Saxon 8-UFO 9-Ozzy 10-Rose Tattoo Others never referred to as metal, ever, but fall in to the 'fairly heavy rock' bracket and whom I love: Rory Gallagher The Who

  4. Re: Deep Purple!!! :D They've had more line-ups than a world record-holding pornstar, but most of those line ups have been class. An often overlooked gem is the Purpendicular album. Cannot stop playing that CD. And, of course, Gillan (with John McCoy/Colin Towns/Mick Underwood) was also a great band. Great fun. Just cannot stick Coverdale, though Burn is a great album.

  5. Re: Best Blue Oyster Cult Album? I'm maybe biased, but they have strong songs on all their albums. Best ones, with comments are: Secret Treaties (brilliant songs, though '70s production may not be to everyone's taste) On Your Feet...Or On Your Knees (Live-worth buying for Last Days Of May alone. Great guitar work, but may seem to go on a little bit) Agents of Fortune (more poppy than previous albums, but includes class songs) Some Enchanted Evening (Live-get the expanded version if you can) Cultasaurus Erectus (Very Underrated-great production by Martin Birch) Fire Of Unknown Origin (Again, very underrated. Contains the best song they've never played live: Vengeance) Imaginos (Was supposedly an Albert Bouchard solo album that the record label would only issue if it was a BOC album. Don't let that put you off-it's stunning.) Dave-are you from the UK?

  6. Re: Hog Justice Room - Who Would You Lock In?

The Mad Murderous Monkey came though the post yesterday - unfortunately for the postman. He's itching to get started - he comes equipped with a hammer' date=' knife, whip, machete, screwdriver or jagged rock. How do you want Bieber punished? Let the forum decide and the monkey will deliver justice.[/quote'] All of the above. And shite bullets as standby. Mind you, if the Monkey fails to deliver, I'd send him back and get a refund. Maybe you should give him a dress-rehearsal on George fuckin Michael? Poke the monkey repeatedly with a pointy stick just to make him extra angry.
  7. Re: \m/ JUDAS PRIEST! \m/

Actually' date=' I think Demolition was heavier than Jugulator. Jugulator was the logical continuation of the sound they explored with Painkiller. Jugulator beats the shit out of Demolition however. That was one of the worst Priest albums ever. It was an alright Metal album but it didn't sound like Priest. I wish they'd stayed with the heavier sound when Halford came back. Angel of Retribution will always be the worst Judas Priest album of all time. The band took 12 large leaps backwards on that one.[/quote'] Was listening to 'Angel' just last week and it is really week. Nostradamus is an absolute masterpiece, if not falling into the traditional Priest sound. There's no doubt that the early, classic albums sound weak, and definitely are over produced. Not much that can be done about that now, but the songs are so strong that it doesn't matter too much. Painkiller still sounds as fresh today as it did 22 years ago when it came out.
  8. Re: \m/ JUDAS PRIEST! \m/ Probably an age/generation perspective I'm taking, but the guys I knew who loved Priest in the '70s shunned that album as 'thrash'. Plus the press didn't go totally over the top about it at the time. They would if it came out tomorrow (one guy who did was Tommy Vance, playing 2 tracks on his Radio 1 show and generally raving about it.) I think it's recognised by today's generation of metal fans as the classic it is and it's grown gradually to be accepted by the older fans as a classic, but it's taken time. And when you compare some of the tracks like the title track, Leather Rebel, All Guns Blazing etc. it certainly is a step up in pace and delivery from previous efforts. I remember when Halford left that KK Downing said in an interview that Rob wanted to take them in a heavier direction and he said that, basically, Painkiller was a one-off and 'as heavy as we'll get'. Unfortunately, my generation of metal fans (and the one before mine) did not like change or anything radical, and Painkiller was radical for Priest. But some of the same generation now see that album as the gem it is, but many still don't. Sorry for sounding preachy, guys, but just trying to explain where I'm coming from!

  9. Re: Hog Justice Room - Who Would You Lock In?

Sharon Osbourne is in, so is Axl, once the mad murderous monkey arrives I'll let him choose he beats over the head with big stiff dead rabbit first. Sharon will probably of killed Axl before the mad monkey arrives, she'll stab him in the back with a jewelled knife. Maybe not metal, but I'd like to put Steve Tyler in the justice room. My softer side loves some classic Aerosmith, but the guy is a joke and needs the big stiff dead rabbit shoved right up him. Then have a squirrel piss in his ear. Might seem a bit harsh, but it's the hog justice room, where animals take it to the extreme - not the pink fairy justice room
That's not rough justice mate-that's sweet revenge. That frog-faced wanker needs the hog justice! A fuckin pretty boy poser, singing those bed-wetting ballads-jeezus! If the hog doesn't sort him out, shoot him with bullets of his own shite!
  10. Re: \m/ JUDAS PRIEST! \m/

I have to say' date=' I hate Priest. Everything I've heard is bad. There are some good riffs, but as soon as the songs start properly, they are let down by the weak singing, the weak production, the weak playing... [b']just weak. Seriously, Hell Bent For Leather? Great riff, but then Halfords singing is as thin as a schoolgirls... something and it just takes the whole song down with it. Never liked them, never will.
That's your prerogative, mate-nobody can make you like something (I've never like Metallica). But I think your wrong about them being weak. Certainly the '70s album can sound a bit over-produced, but listen to Unleashed or Painkiller and you'll maybe get a better feel for the band. Painkiller is, IMO, the most underrated metal album ever.
  11. Re: WHO DID YOU HATE, BUT ENDED UP LIKING?

for a while I hated harsh vocals so bands like Death' date=' Arch Enemy, Bathory and so on I really didn't care for, but I'm not bothered by them anymore allowing me to find such great bands as Arsis, Sickening Horror, Alethian[/quote'] As an old fart brought up with what you'd call 'proper singers', it took me a bit of time to get into the Cookie Monster vocals of the really heavy bands. But the music is so heavy and extreme in many cases, 'normal' singing would just be pointless.
  12. Re: Hog Justice Room - Who Would You Lock In?

I don't feel Lee Dorrian and crew deserve punishment in the Hog Justice room. Fair enough if not your cup of tea, but no punishment. Also went on holiday and forgot to feed the hog - he is now just a bit smelly dead pig and won't be dealing justice to anyone. The only vicious and randy animals at the Randy and Vicious Pet Shop is a horrible hamster, a grumpy guinea pig, and a cruel cat . Not fit animals to control the Justice room, I'm holding out for Murderous Mad Monkey. I will lock those in need of punishment in the Justice Room until a suitable mad animal is obtained. The Hog is dead, long live the justice room
Monkey's are either funny or vicious. And their public masturbation displays are legendary. Please keep us informed, metal, with your quest for the most aggressive simian on the planet.
  13. Re: Hog Justice Room - Who Would You Lock In?

Here's one of my favorite Cathedral songs, a great balance between their early monolithic heaviness and a bit of the fun rockish stoner/groove they would later embody: zjiday3gBrc
Sorry guys, that don't tickle my pickle. Especially the vocals, the always seem to tail away as if the singer can't think of a melody to finish with. I knew I'd get slaughtered for diss-ing them!
  14. I'm nothing if not contrite. I hated Motley Crue when I saw them at Donnington 1984, but after listening to them on record, I ended up liking them. Also: Slayer- (saw Machine Head's 1st tour supporting them, then saw 4 Slayer songs and went home) Ozzy-Have to admit his constant bumming in the press about how crazy he was (never blow your own trumpet) put me off. Then I heard Over The Mountain Queen-Thought they were a pop group, but a mate played me the Greatest Hits lp and, yes, they're a pop group (in the '70s sense) but good. Not a fan as such. Rob Zombie-Didn't go a bundle on White Zombie, but saw them live and, whilst it didn't change my mind on the music, Rob Zombie became someone i really liked. he's got presence.

  15. Re: WHO HAVE YOU MET?

Not met him........ Yet Should clarify that. Said hello but not had a real conversation with him, so don't have an opinion of him yet.
I'm sure you do, but what you mean is a true opinion, based on what he was like when you met him? I'd really like to meet him, coz he sends out so many contradictory messages. I wonder if it's all for controversy's sake, and I'm sure it pretty much is. As far as other celebs go, I've not met many, but most have been football players, and nearly all of them fancy themselves something rotten! My mate's a painter and he regularly does some famous clients in Ayrshire. One of them is a genuine legend-Steve Chalmers, scorer of the winning goal when Celtic became the first British club to win the European Cup (and, actually, the first Notheren Europe team to win it, and the first winners of the actual trophy as we know it now). Dave say's he's an absolute gent. Another gent is former Scotland boss and Dundee player Craig Brown-he gave my mate a huge commemorative plaque given to him by Dundee fans to mark the 50th anniversary of Dundee winning the league-what a gesture (my mate's a Dundee fan)! Come on, folks-I need to know who's a good-guy and who's a wank!
  16. Re: Hog Justice Room - Who Would You Lock In?

Nah' date=' that's from one of their better albums. They just did a shit load of drugs and rocked the fuck out and had a great time, I don't see why that's silly.[/quote'] The song isn't that bad, I admit, and there's a great riff in the middle if I remember right, but the first time I saw it I thought it was a piss take. The fact it was on the same show as a Manowar video didn't help. But, ever the open minded, recommend me an album and I'll check it out, see if time's been any kinder to them!
  17. Re: Who do you really, really hate...

Everything I have read and heard says that those who exercise will live much longer and much more happily.
Bullshit! There's nothing more boring on this earth (not even U2), than excercise for the sake of it! I can play football, walk for miles etc and its fine-but ask me to go to the gym and I can feel my very soul start to drip out my arsehole. :(
  18. Re: ROB ZOMBIE/MANSON TOUR

Where did you see him? I saw him in Manchester. Originally at the Academy but there was no way that stage show would fit there' date=' then got moved to the Apollo.[/quote'] Carling Academy in Glasgow-he commented that the stage was the 'smallest in the world', which it isn't. Ironic, because the last time he was to play in Glasgow (decades ago, it seems), he had to scale down from the Barrowlands to the Garage due to poor ticket sales. It instantly made the Garage gig a sell out and I couldn't get a ticket. Blut, I've only seen him on that last tour and it was mind-blowing. Saw White Zombie years back (just went with my mate for company) and they were brilliant, but I didn't really like their music; found them pedestrian .mainly
  19. Re: Hog Justice Room - Who Would You Lock In?

Cathedral have released some of the best doom and stoner metal albums in history. Their image can be interpreted as cheesy' date=' but it's out of sheer love for all things 70's as opposed to some fucking hipster pandering like you see with every retro band around these days.[/quote'] I see, but that Mathew Hopkins video is just awful! Rhyming the word 'general' with 'hell' made me think they couldn't possibly be serious, it's so bad. Maybe it was just a bad day at the office for them...
  20. Re: WHO HAVE YOU MET?

Non music. Mark Crawford - Head Coach of the LA Kings at that time. Luc Robitaille - Highest scoring left wing in NHL history Chris Pronger - NHL Brett Hull - NHL All Manchester Storm Ice Hockey Club 1995 - 2002 Norman Whiteside - MUFC football Bryan Robson - MUFC football Mario Melchiot - Dutch footballer. Music Robert Plant Paul Rutherford (80's pop group Frankie Goes To Holywood) went to Art College with him. Rick Astley - Went to high school with him. John Lydon - Mrs Satan's distant cousin. That's all I can think of at the moment.
What's dear ol' Johnny Rotten like then? Dying to know what he's really like...
  21. Re: ROB ZOMBIE/MANSON TOUR

Rob Zombie - Cool. Manson - Dick.
Agree-but I do feel that Manson is one of those who you could go and see and he might surprise you. But I don't like his stuff, and his fans (by and large) are a load of bed-wetters. Rob Zombie last year was one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. Stunning.
