Wow. They're also poorly written. The gore doesn't bother me, but the "disgusting ebony skin" line does. Sick vocals, shame the songwriter was a douche.

There's a whole "who listens to DM for the lyrics" debate here but I ain't a big lyrics guy anyway.

Yeah, that Infester is a hard one to come by. I know a guy on another forum that paid $100 for just the CD, no booklet or insert included. I'm not a download guy as you know, so I'm holding out hope for a reissue, or an eBay listing with a spelling error, that's about the only time to not pay an arm and a leg for such a rare album.

I guess the positive to downloading it is that the booklet, artwork, and lyrics are filled with xenophobic/racist imagery. Check out the lyrics to Braded Into Palsy...

I joined Discogs recently and got round to exploring the vinyl for sale on there and was fucking amazed at the price of some of the releases on there.  My fledgling vinyl collection won't be getting as big as I had hoped anytime soon.

  3. Altarage "Nihl" - I am so fucking stoked about getting this on Saturday I can't begin to express how into this I am.  It's an 8 track wall of crushing noise.  I have literally had room for little else in my head this week.  Can't wait for future releases from these boys.  I love how DM keeps evolving in recent years, driven undoubtedly by the likes of Portal, Mitochondrion and Impetuous Ritual but still pushing beyond these sounds even.

Infester "To The Depths In Degradation" - the above having been said, this week I also stumbled by accident across this slab of old school DM murkiness (bless you Bandcamp, bless you) whilst sizing up Ritual Chamber's new album.  Dario Derna who is Ritual Chamber, (once of Evoken fame) was also in Infester (amongst other bands) and was present to input into this underground DM masterpiece.  It's even available free via some BC page in Guyana!

Candlemass "Epicus, Doomicus, Metallicus" - this has been on my playlist quite regularly now for a number of weeks.  I can probably play this whole album in my head without having to refer to my copy of the album (which shall be made vinyl shortly).  If we are talking classic doom albums, this is up there with Sabbath "Vol 4", Trouble "Psalm 9", Saint Vitus "Born Too Late" etc.

  4. Hmm. Ok. I think it works well, I dig the sounds they're making. Interested to hear the album, whenever it gets done.

This Infester stuff is fucking great, BTW.

Yes, I think Infester was a real find. Read about them in the write up on Bandcamp for the new Ritual Chamber album and thought I would check them out.

    NP: Spurn - Demo

Two tracks of dark, dissonant DM/noisecore. "Newsfeed" is heavy as fuck. Macabre, check this out.

Nah, not for me.  Just heard the latest Wormed track - promising enough but not really straying from their established format (which is a good thing).

Fuck yes, Gorguts has a promo track out for their upcoming album, TBR in May. I'm psyched. This track is very reminiscent of Colored Sands, but with more range and control between the chilled-out and intense sections.

I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed somehow.  I mean yes, it is built from that "Coloured Sands" format and doesn't really have anything "wrong" with it but it sounds like an extra track from "Coloured Sands". Will have to hear more from the album to form a fuller opinion.

Thanks! I really enjoy the riffs and overall vibe. Not in love with the vocals. I'll put it on my bandcamp wish list, though.

NP: Abyssal - Denouement; Abyssal - Novit Enim Dominus Qui Sunt Eius

I think that is part of the appeal for me, with music that evil, menacing and crushing you don't need guttural gurns to accompany it.
