  1. Hail Everyone. Vodnik would like to present our new track. Read the caption and now, for your reading pleasure we've posted our lyrics for the songs we've posted on youtube in our Vodnik channel. Any way, this is another preview of our soon to be released EP. Exactly when? Trying to figure that out right now. Stay tuned, and thanks for your support and hearing us out. Hope you like drinking songs Click the link.
  2. Re: Death I agree, but fear of death is another subject no? Ever hear the saying, 'All who love life fear the reaper'? I think a little fear is healthy. Keeps us alive longer so we can accomplish more. In theory. Than again, fear however typical this sounds, is a weakness, and humans show themselves as separate from many animals, because they can control it. Sorta citing Dune.
  3. Re: Death Death is unfathomable until we experience it. All we can perceive of it is what happens physically (to whatever dies) when it occurs. As far as speculating on an afterlife, post-consciousness, or ascendance to heaven etc, I think it probably boils down to the individual's life experience, values, and concrete ideas established throughout their life. An Atheist may experience nothing when they die, belieiving they are existential and this life on earth is all we get (your - mind is just chemicals in your brain - idea). Where as a devout christian may dream of going to heaven and that's the last thought they had, so perhaps that becomes their endless stream of consciousness? Their afterlife? This is all assuming we can perceive anything after we die, so who knows. So far, it's one of those mysteries of human existence, and all that is in existence in general. Fun to think about, but depressing for some.
  4. Re: Meshuggah. And Djent is a new term coined by a newer artist from a new generation of bands who want to separate themselves from the old breed. And it's working to some degree. Hard to say whether its justified or not. Maybe not yet.
  5. Re: Meshuggah. Wasn't it someone else who actually invented the style/sound/palmutign technique? And then I'm pretty sure it was taken up by some early 90s bands, such as Pantera and of course, Meshugga. Too lazy to look up specifics atm.
  6. Hello Hello Everyone. We're Vodnik, a death metal band from Toronto, Canada. We decided to post another little taste of the demo we've been developing. Check it out. TA DA. It's sort of a political piece that's hot in our minds and it should be a great part of the demo. We hope you enjoy the track! Stay tuned for more! Thank you friends. - Vic
  7. Happy Halloween Everyone! We are really excited to be taking a trip up to Montreal to Play with some crazy Montreal bands on December the 8th. Should be a really great time, if anyone is in the area. We guarantee a satanic effort on Vodnik's part. Check out the flyer that I uploaded. We hope everyone is ready to trick or treat... - Vic
  8. Re: Battle Metal, just another ridiculous "genre"? haha you are probably right. I do enjoy the cross overs, but the elite band of these genres don't necessarily consider themselves separate from the more generalized genres. I don't know, some probably do. Yeah, I guess the best way to look at it is to allow it all grow wildly, because no one can stop it anyway, whether for good or bad. and I guess people/fans can do their part by being aware of these dynamics, and support the bands who are true to their music.
  9. Re: VODNIK - GREETINGS with our NEW music Video lol yes indeed
  10. Re: VODNIK - GREETINGS with our NEW music Video That is pretty lame. It's part of the reason I think facebook has issues. Everyone is constantly using each other in funny way to promote themselves. By the same token, we as a band are trying to take advantage of these sort of applications (forums) to promote ourselves, but thanks for noticing that we aren't being wh**es about it. We do care about the metal community and don't want to harm or disrespect anyone, unless they deserve it of course. I'm actually really diggin this forum.
  11. Re: Battle Metal, just another ridiculous "genre"? Yeah, metal has enough subgenres already to seperate key tihngs about those genres. I think it's usually enough, maybe there is room for a couple more. Djent? I don't really like the term but I hear it used a lot, And I understand the concept. I wonder how Meshugah look at Djent, because that genre is largely credited towards them in that case. It would be interesting to hear a lot of artists' perCPECTIVES on this matter.
  12. Re: Battle Metal, just another ridiculous "genre"? I agree. Maybe in this part of the information age, since there were some key distinctions made years back (death metal, power metal, etc) people are either bored with the old generalizations (as one might see them) or genre names, or they want to get more specific for chronicling and searching purposes, as they build their pirated music collection. I'm kinda half kidding but not really.
  13. Re: Battle Metal, just another ridiculous "genre"? IF you think about it, all genres started that way, by soem band who incorporated the words into a song, album or in the band's actual name, such as Death, who is credited (whether its true or not) as a grandfather of the deathmetal genre. I agree completely that all this new genre is bs and people only further hurt the music industry with this lack of artistic integrity. Be your own genre, but you don't have assert that genre, and you definitely shouldn't go around with promoting a new genre if you don't have something to back it up. The words 'Battle Metal' sounds cool together, for many reasons. But it also sounds corny and lame, and if you were a true artist you'd involve the notion of 'battle' in your lyrics instead of saying you are a 'battle metal' band. And, I guess I should pay attention to when posts are made. This sparked my interest though. I should go before I get too into this.
  14. Re: VODNIK - GREETINGS with our NEW music Video And yes. I hope by now that you've hit the sack.
