  4. Hi @GoatmasterGeneral 🤘 Thanks for your long post! 👌 I don't know if all the bands from Eastern France are as pissed off as the 3 you posted, but you have to admit that for them, Germany isn't far away and when it comes to extreme metal, it's not a soft country over there 😅 Yes, I used to live in Paris, but now I live in the south-west of France. Bayonne is famous for its smoked hams, which are simply delicious. I didn't know about Jersey. Where I live, in Charente-Maritime, we're best known for our Pineau (a liqueur wine drunk as an aperitif) and our galette charentaise (a shortcrust cake with pieces of angelica inside, a plant used to make candied fruit). And Bordeaux, with all its luscious wines, is just over 60 miles away. My favorite French bands are few and far between, but I listen to them regularly: ADX (melodic speed), Daemonium/Akhenaton/Sangdragon (symphonic black, 3 bands but only one person behind the helm), Eros Necropsique (gothic without electric guitar, just vocals, bass and drums), Hexecutor (thrash), Kalisia (sci-fy metal, author of a magnificent album, Cybion, but very difficult to access), The Last Tomb (Coroner-style thrash), Les Enfants de Dagon (black), Les Vieilles Salopes (the old sluts, punk), Loudblast (a little), Massacra (death), Mercyless (Eastern death), Misanthrope, Nemo (aggressive prog rock), No Return (thrash/death), Paydretz (black), Sortilège (heavy), Undead Prophecies (old school death), Voight Kampff (thrash). Some of these bands no longer exist, but I like some of their records. Gojira isn't really my thing. In the 80's, Metal in France was limited to a few bands and was considered as an old-fashioned music (even though the style was not so popular). Now, the bands number in the thousands and the scene is not ridiculous.
  5. The Boneless Ones - Back To The Grind (2022)
  6. Catacomb - When the Stars are Right (2023)
  7. Seven Doors - Feast of the Repulsive Dead (2023) Old-school British death metal with a horror-movie vibe. XenotronE - Queen of the Night (EP) (2023) Ukrainian Thrash Metal. Tetragammacide - Typho-Tantric Aphorisms From The Arachneophidian Qur'an (2023) Indian Black/Death Metal. Incantation - Unholy Deification (2023)
  8. Hekseblad - Kaer Morhen (2024) Geralt of Riva roams the trails, holding his trusty Roach by the bridle. Below stands the imposing fortress of Kaer Morhen. Where witchers learn their hard trade of monster slaying. Let the music begin! Le Chant Noir - La société satanique des poétes morts (2021) This Brazilian black metal album was a big hit when it was released. 3 years on, it's still as magical as ever. Whiskey & Funeral - Thy Malignant (2024) Italian Blackened Death Metal. Master - Saints Dispelled (2024)
  9. Hekseblad - Kaer Morhen (2024)
  10. Forbidden - Twisted into Form (1990)
  11. Exodus - Tempo of the Damned (2004)
  12. Embrional - Evil Dead (2019)
  13. Hellish - The Dance of the Four Elemental Serpents (2022)
  14. Hekseblad - Kaer Morhen (2024) Initially attracted by the cover, with its tones strongly reminiscent of Emperor's In the Nightside Eclipse, the album's name drew my curiosity further: Kaer Mohren, the ruined fortress of the witchers in Andrzej Sapkowski's novels. And then came the music. Epic, sometimes violent, I love the singing. As for the production, which is dry but leaves plenty of room for the instruments to express themselves, I can't fault it at all. In short, having bought the album last night on a whim, this morning I'm listening to it!
  15. Let's go to listen some Black Metal tonight !
  16. Mekong Delta - Tales of a Future Past (2020)
  17. Skyclad - A Burnt Offering for the Bone Idol (1992)
  18. Nemedian Chronicles - The Savage Sword (2024) French Power Epic Heavy Metal band. With influences as diverse as Blind Guardian, Manowar, Rhapsody, Manilla Road or Iron Maiden. Nemedian Chronicles is all about Robert E.Howard's Conan the Barbarian stories. This kind of music is not normally my cup of tea. But I decided to listen to the album this morning to get an idea. Edit : Okay, it's still not my cup of tea. After a long, epic introduction reminiscent of Rhapsody with a pinch of Blind Guardian, here comes the second track, and from the very first seconds, I already know I'm not going to like it. Well, I won't insist and move on, but I'll leave it here in case there are any fans. Arsena - Blood Rusted Mother Earth (2022) American Thrash Metal in the place !
  19. Wrath - Nothing to Fear (1987)
  20. Zimmers Hole - Bound by Fire (1997) A crazy album, I love it!
  21. Xenophile - Systematic Enslavement (2016) As a fan of Bay Area thrash and progressive metal, I had high hopes for this band when I discovered the monumental Systematic Enslavement. It had it all: Thrash as if we were in San Francisco, progressive, with a pinch of Nevermore. Perfect for me. For reasons unknown to me, the singer left to join an old band, Toxik, and even took part in their last album, Dis Morta in 2022. And Xenophile split up in the process. All that's left is this album and two singles.
  22. Excellent choice! And I'm not just saying that because the band comes from my country. Although... 😇 Yes, "Parler Anglais ou mourir" 👌 Personally, I still think it's a great album, even if it's aging along with us. And old Camemberts can sometimes hold some very pleasant taste surprises 😁 Antichrist - Sinful Birth (2017) A very good old-school Thrash album from Sweden. For me, one of the bands of the new Thrash generation to put right at the top of the list. Listen to the break on The Black Pharaoh, where the band have fun with the riff, twisting it in all directions.
  23. S.O.D - Speak English or Die (1985)
  24. Sodom - Masquerade in Blood (1995)
  25. Vio-Lence - Let the World Burn (EP) (2022)
