I've known this band for about 2 years, when I discovered their second album, Grand Currents.

When you know that these 3 brothers formed Hammerhedd in 2012, that the guitarist was then 9, the drummer 7 and the bassist 4, it makes you smile eventually, except when you watch their first videos. And that's when we calm down. It's enough to see them covering Sepultura covers in their garage...
Now aged 21, 19 and 16 respectively, the 3 brothers have already released 3 albums and 1 EP.

Stamped Thrash Metal on Wikipedia and other sites, Hammerhedd's music goes far beyond that. It's aggressive as Thrash, with lots of palm-muting, snarling vocals, but there are plenty of progressive moments.
One of my finest discoveries of recent years, if not THE finest.

Hammerhedd - Essence of Iron (EP) (2018)

    Hammerhedd - Nonetheless (2023)

I remember hearing them when they first broke, but I never actually followed them. Had no idea they released an album last year.

  2. I just spent some time on YT looking for new music and I realised another reason why I don't do it as often as I used to. I don't have the patience for intros any more. I do need to get outside and do some work but it's not really the deadline of that which is driving me. I just don't seem to keep playing anything after a minute or so if the first track is some kind of intro that doesn't catch me.

  3. I was the other way, I used to have the time to do it. These days I could probably find the time but I tend to spend it doing other things. Years ago I used to sit down with a new CD or vinyl and listen to it start to end reading the cover and the lyrics etc but these days I tend to let music play in the back ground more and more. There are albums I do buy and listen through intently without interruption but it doesn't happen anywhere near as much as it used to.

  4. I used to enjoy the hunt for new music, I used to want to hear every band I could, but it got to the point for me where the shit just all started to blend together. Too many bands sounded the same, committing bands names to memory just wasn't happening for 90% of what I heard. I'd hear someone talk about a band that sounded good, only to realise I'd heard them months before and forgotten their music and name.

  5. I love the metal core reference to pineapple on pizza!!

I use peppers a lot too and that's why I grow them all year round where I can. I don't mind the hotter ones but I have to be careful I know which are which because my missus really hates them. Last summer I think I had some seeds cross pollinate and I pulled a large, long green capsicum off the bush and took a huge bite expecting it to be a normal one. I'm not sure if it was the heat or the surprise that nearly blew me apart but I make sure to only take small bites these days.

  6. I knew Americans ate bell peppers rather than capsicums and I can see why they are called bell peppers. I'm pretty sure that as a kid we knew them as just peppers, but I'm not sure if that was exclusively the name for them or not because I don't remember what age I was when I realised the two items were the same thing. This year I grew a heap of different sorts of capsicum and very few were bell shaped, so I see why less people here refer to them as bell peppers.

Prawns at a restaurant are ok because they are prepared, but prawns at home are bloody annoying. Usually they are quite expensive, but they are a bastard to peel, especially when you get a dozen or so on the plate. Many people don't have an issue doing it but I hate doing it at home, probably the same people that enjoy sucking the meat out of a crab's claw. Shrimps are much easier when it comes to prep work but it would take quite a few to satisfy my hungry.

We used to go out on a summer's night and walk around the lake with under water lights and nets catching prawns, some were bite size other were massive. Some nights we'd come home with 5 or 6 kilos of prawns. For a week away we'd catch a years supply of prawns at night and fish during the day. But I'm not a huge fan of frozen seafood any more and most of the places we used to go got fished out and are no longer worth it.

I'm not a huge pizza fan so I don't care what people put on them, but then I have only had Aussie pizzas which are nothing like an American pizza. I wouldn't mind trying an American pizza but I could happily live not having another Aussie pizza in my lifetime.
