  1. Sacrifice (Canada) - Forward to Termination (1987)

This is Sacrifice's second album. Their first, Torment in Fire (1985) is passable, but also a mess. This one is where the meat is. A first listen to this will probably draw comparisons to Destruction and Kreator, which it isn't too far removed from aside from having a much more progressive edge.

Defleshed (Sweden) - Abrah Kadavrah (1996)

Defleshed made a few varied releases from the mid nineties into 2005. Their first EP, Ma Belle Scalpelle was pure death metal with some unique twists and turns in it. Abrah Kadavrah is an awesome, original death/thrash album, with enough of either to belong here. Great lyrics, great riffs... check it out.

Nephastus (Brazil) - Tortuous Ways (1991)

It's hard to get anymore obscure--Nephastus are a band from northeastern Brazil, who released one album on a small label. Some of the tracks here are a little choppy, and the sound quality is crusty. But if you're looking for a different take on the style, this might do it for you.

A friend showed me a couple of his songs on YouTube about a year ago, I remember my reaction at the time was "eh".

Yep. It's not egregious like Pat Boone doing metal covers, but it's up there. His Christmas carols gave me a good laugh. I imagine it was a lot of fun to be Christopher Lee, to say the least.

Sounds cool :) what kinda art do you do?

For my cuz, it was portraits and personal things like that. He also used to make replica antique furniture that I painted for him--filigree, various pattern designs, decorative stuff. I've just been doing ink drawings for a while now.

  4. ^ Harsh, but fair :)

7/10 - Once again, I'm still not terribly familiar with funeral doom, but on first impression I liked it. It's long, but varied throughout the whole and doesn't constantly drag on at the same, monotonous tempo. It has slow, churning parts, but also a lot of melodic riffs that give it more of a sense of building up to something.

Yeh it's a great album :)  I have had that Imgur recommended before, I'll have to check it out..Oh The Adverts..'Gary Gilmore's Eyes'?  I don't really know much of their stuff tbh, I have been listening to some old Peel Sessions recently and they have been on a few of those. I miss John Peel, he used to play some cool shit. He has some of the lyrics to 'Teenage Kicks' on his headstone, how about Alien Sex Fiend?

I have their Acid Bath album. I like it.

  6. I ran into my much older, biker cousin this weekend. He asked if I would help clear some brush from around his place (he lives way out in the country) since he isn't getting around that well these days. I was glad to help, of course, although I managed to get into some poison oak. I thought he was really cool when I was a kid; he used to have a really nice, really loud Harley Electra Glide. He's always been nice to me and he was one of the few people who've ever paid me to do artwork for them. I hadn't been over there in a while, and when I was there this time I noticed he had some bird houses he'd built out of barn wood and old motorcycle license plates.

My sister came over today too with my nieces, so we spent some time together letting them play outside. The weather here has changed from humid, oppressive heat to fall-like so it's been a pretty good weekend, just hanging out with my family.

  7. Yeah, I heard of Bomb Disneyland through an old blog that I used to follow. Christ, I haven't thought about them in a while though. I remember the bass was really cool on that album. Gonna have to listen to them again. And the name change... probably similar to why Green Jello had to change their name to Green Jelly :)

It'd be cool to see some of the signed stuff you have if you feel like posting it. Imgur is good to use for stuff like that.

Btw, do you like the Adverts?
