  8. Ha Ha I hear you bro. I guess being a history buff I like to place things on time lines, sort of a historical road map. I know even if I am able to get a list it would be able to be redone 20 times over but I'm just trying to get some type of base line. Or maybe lack of being able to come up with a list could be worth its weight in a blog post all of its own, based on what you just said. Either way that's why I ask the question. I appreciate the feedback bro Tim Shearn www.welcometothedarkside.org
  9. Fellow Metalheads!!! I posted this on my website a few weeks back. I got some feedback but I decided to wait to post the results because I wanted to get a better cross section of opinions. I will post the results to my website hopefully next week. "I need some help. I want to put together a list of what you all believe are the top 10 most influential heavy metal albums over heavy metals forty five plus year history. I’m talking about genre defining albums that changed the trajectory of metal, and its musical possibilities. This means anything from classic metal, speed metal, trash, death metal, black metal, goth metal, and everything in between. Feel free to share one album, five ore even ten albums". Thanks in Advance Tim Shearn www.welcometothedarkside.org
  10. I often pondered this question. I wrote up a mission statement "for lack of a better description" on my blog awhile back and I did my best to answer this question because I wanted my readers to understand exactly what metal is to me. Here is an excerpt "If the myths remain then I will live within the perceptions of mainstream mythology. That then makes me a “SOCIALLY AWKWARD ANARCHIST SATANIST ANGRY METALHEAD” through and through and I wear it like a badge. I am living free on the DARKSIDE, off the grid and thinking for myself. I accept reality for what it is both the good and the bad and I will not hide my head in politically correct idealism. Heavy Metal music audibly and lyrically challenges the human soul and in that challenge our mind is forced to wrestle with the very nihilistic illusion or existential reality of our existence" Here is the link for the rest of the post For Love of The Music ?The Rise of the Darkside? | tHedArksIde Horns Up !!! 12. Seriously I joined this forum to get deeper into the scene and find out what people are talking about beneath the surface. I wanted to get my feet wet with some of the more surface debates and well known bands, however I really want to move the site toward things that are really going on beneath the surface. Particularly those things that associated with extreme metal scene. I think you must have read my mind here because there is only so much that you can write about without repeating yourself when you working only within the tip of the iceberg. Seriously thanks again because the site is about the music and the fans.
  13. I'm glad you asked. I meant to put that in my intro actually but got side tracked. I grew up on classic traditional metal such as Sabbath, Priest, and Maiden, as well as early Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer. In my recent years I have ventured deeper into the extreme metal territory after hearing Death's Scream, Bloody, Gore. I would say at this point, I will always love the classics but, I have developed a really affinity for Death, Doom, and even some Black Metal.
  14. Hey thanks for checking out the site and thanks for the feedback. I usually try to clean up the spelling and grammar errors especially with blog posts however I do miss them frequently. It's nice to have another set of eyes. Any suggestions for content are always welcome as the site is a fluid idea and I want it to be a place where metal fans can bring unique ideas to discuss. Also I just want to promote the thing I love most which is metal music. Hope to hear more of your feedback in the future
