  1. I count Black Sabbath as one of my favourite bands, and I probably listen to them about twice a year (if that). Alice in Chains are probably my number one favourite, but I don't seem to listen to them all that often, either.

  2. There was a time' date=' about 20 years ago when I had 3 Fugazi albums. According to wikipedia they were a post punk band, so maybe that is what I liked and not punk at all. I've always had a fondness for punk aesthetic and punk anti-aesthetic as well, but often the best thing about a punk tune is that it is super short. I like punked up ska music to a degree, and loved a band called Babaloo that used to come to a town I lived in and we would dance, I tell you. Punk mambo they called themselves. I like the dance culture of punk with slam dancing and such. If you had seen me in the late eighties or early nineties you would have thought "what the fuck does that barefoot hippie think he is doing in the middle of the mosh pit?" (Answer- Dancing and having fun.)[/quote'] Fugazi were actually classed as one of the first 'post-hardcore' bands, but yeah, from what I've heard of their stuff (namely their first album) they just sound like punk rock to me. I really dig their debut and need to try their other albums.
  3. Trap Them - Blissfucker One of my friends was raving about this. My first listen didn't impress me very much' date=' so I'm giving it another chance. All the hype from the supposedly "independent" blogs sucks, it's like reading paid advertising copy. I need to go back to avoiding reviews... edit - it's a bit basic for my taste, but I bet JBaker would dig this album, maybe chaos too. It's not bad, I just think I'd rather listen to old Converge, is all...[/quote']'Old' Converge? Oh, you metal fan, you. ;) Yeah, I've heard good things about Trap Them and have been meaning to check them out for quite a while.
  4. Bastille- Bad Blood, courtesy of a friend. Fuck, so this is what people consider to be interesting, engaging music nowadays? It's maybe just about better than Coldplay, but it's too early to tell, really. Not sure I'll be able to stick this one out. Tried once already. :/

  5. Awesome. They're one of my favorite bands ever' date=' though my appreciation for Ghost Reveries is pretty recent and I don't care for anything after it. I think it's hard to go wrong with anything they did up to that point. Their first two albums are different in character; I love them but they only hint at what would develop later. Check out My Arms, Your Hearse for the roots of the sound that they'd refine throughout the next several years. In fact... NP: Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse :D[/quote']Cheers, I'll check that album out. Think I'll start with Ghost Reveries, though, as I'm at least vaguely familiar with a few tracks already.
  6. Living Sacrifice- The Infinite Order... A little 'preachy' for my tastes (track titles like 'God Is My Home' and 'Nietzsche's Madness' are hardly what you could call subtle), but I really dig the energy and huge grooves these guys have. Reminds me at different points of Decapitated, Sepultura, Hatebreed, Lamb of God, early Slipknot i.e. way up my street, and seeing as I rarely pay attention to lyrics anyway...

  7. Quicksand- Slip... More '90s rock. I can hear shades of Helmet, Sunny Day Real Estate, Fugazi, Therapy?, Rage Against The Machine and even Tool. Pretty obvious how this served inspiration to Deftones as well. Pretty simple, but really effective , songwriting. Great stuff!
