Shannon's Achievements

  1. I don't really understand how that's relevant, though. I don't have any sort of feminist agenda while at a show; I'm there to listen to the band and have fun. It's irrational to shy away from any person who you think could possibly be a radical feminist, especially if you're going to exclude all women because of this. With the point of chauvinism over a skull fracture, I get your point, but no one really seems to worry about other guys safety as much as mine and that bothers me. It's like there's a barrier around me trying to prevent me from any sort of movement of the crowd. It also makes me feel like I'm annoying everyone around me just for being there because instead of focusing on other things, they feel this obligation to protect me. I'm small and if I fell or something, I'd like some help, but it's unnecessary to be so focused on my safety. If I was truly worried, I'd stay at the back, but I'm near the front for a reason.
  2. Oh, I wasn't, but you know he's a good guy when Satan approves, so thanks
  3. I wish I had some sort of talent to be in a band! I guess I can sing, but I personally hate female singers, so I'd never do that. I'm just a fan. As for local bands, the only ones I know of are pathetic attempts at deathcore, so I can't really be of any help
  4. I've only really had to deal with this once while at Heavy T.O. a few years ago. I was at the front of the crowd and this guy was trying to steal my spot; I didn't move and he proceeded to tell me that girls shouldn't listen to metal (which is an odd and irrelevant response to the situation, but whatever). Other than that dickhead, I haven't really noticed anything major. There are definitely more males, but I like that. Probably the only thing that annoys me is how protective everyone is of me at shows. Like, I get it I'm a petite girl, but I'm aware of where I am and don't need you to baby me. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that people care, and I don't want to get majorly hurt either, but I like to get pushed around a bit at shows. Also, I'd say I'm a feminist, but one that wants equality for women, not a misandrist. The radicals of any cause are normally the ones who get the most attention and taint others opinions of that issue.
  5. My name's Shannon and I'm 17, from Canada. I love metal (no shit) but basically have no one to talk to about it since I live in a small town made of primarily religious people who wouldn't be very interested in a conversation about metal. So I finally decided to join one of these forums
