  1. Re: Claim Your FREE Metal Forum T-Shirt! Why do I love metal? A better question is why wouldn't someone love metal. From the heaviness, to the absurdity at times, to the raw hate contained in some black metal, metal has it all. It could be the most cheesy song you've ever heard, or it could be the most mundane. Put simply, I love the heaviness and the variety in metal. <3 edit - ant other things, obviously, but yeah.

  2. Obviously if this is the wrong place, feel free to move it and whatnot, but yeah. But yeah, basically this thread is for posting songs that have some of your favourite moments in metal in them, for example Bo9yoHXVtME Angra is awesome, but the part from 3:30 or so until about 4:08 is just amazing. The perfect merging of classical styled music with power metal, and whatnot. <3 angra.

  3. Re: Metal Forum Mascot

Of course, we might run into copyright issues from bands if we did that, but I don't see why fan art of other mascots couldn't work. Just a thought.
As far as I know, assuming that we aren't using an official image of it (ie if one of our members draws his/her own interpretation of 'em) and if it's used in a not-for-profit manner, there shouldn't be a problem. Not 100% sure on this though so dun quote me on it.
  4. Re: Good metal bands You forgot Lost Horizon on your big Power Metal band list! They're like Dragonforce in terms of being "Pure" power metal, but they're about a million times better! Anyways, a list of bands in no particular order. Alchemist - Progressive death metal, similar to Faith No More but less wierd and heavier Angra - Think Symphony X with a more progressive flair and the occasional salsa dance. Avantasia - Ridiculous power metal version of Ayreon Ayreon - Progressive metal, not in the technicality of the instruments but in the style of the albums - metal operas. Bal-Sagoth - Epic symphonic black/death metal. Awesome. Black Jester - Amazing italian prog/power metal. Blind Guardian - They're power metal, but they're not the frilly Dragonforce/Rhapsody style. Badass. Dark Angel - Thrash metal done right. Dragonland - Symphonic progressive power metal. Earlier albums were rhapsody-ish, later albums took on a more progressive style. Exodus - Thrash metal done right[2]. Faith No More - Wierd metal. Falconer - Medieval power metal. Iced Earth - Power metal, but with a thrashy flavour. Earlier stuff was amazing, later stuff was decent. Immortal - Awesome black metal. Iron Maiden - The fuck are you doing on a metal forum if you don't know Iron Maiden? gtfo Judas Priest - See above. Kalmah - Melodeath, Bodom style yet infinitely better. Kamelot - Power metal Korpiklaani - Alcohol metal, 'nuff said. (Quoting acop29 on this) Lost Horizon - like Dragonforce in terms of being "Pure" power metal, but they're about a million times better! Mors Principium Est - Awesome melodeath. Opeth - Godly progressive/death metal. Orphaned Land - Arabic styled metal Powerglove - Covers and remixes of video game/tv show soundtracks. Primus - Bass driven what the fuck is this awesome metal Rhapsody - Cheese, yet oh so delicious. AKA lawful good metal Sabaton - Modern War power metal. Summoning - "Tolkien" metal; might be called Epic Black metal as they use a far grander style than most black metal Symphony X - The definition of progressive power metal. Van Canto - A Capella metal. Nuff said. Wintersun - I don't even know what to classify these guys as, they're just awesome metal. Also I lied about there not being any order in this list.

  5. Re: gaming I like pretty much any game. Recently Minecraft and Baldur's Gate 2 have occupied my attention more than any other games (36 hours of BG2 in 5 days? :winning: ) but in general I'd say that Europa Universalis 3 is my favourite game.

  6. Re: Heya guys :D Fairly good taste in music, and typing properly? Nice nice. A band you might enjoy is the Australian DM band Alchemist. They're somewhat technical progressive deathmetal. Alternatively, if you're in the mood for Bodom-esque melodeath (on a higher level) check out Mors Principium Est.

  7. Re: Favorite bands? Iced Earth and Angra are tied for the #1 slot (as I've said numerous times >.> ) After that, I'd say probably... Hm. It changes fairly frequently, but at this moment probably Wintersun, Lost Horizon, and Mors Principium Est.
