Megalithic Metal at https://:www.lccommunityradio.org Live curated show Saturday nights 9pm US MT Repeated Tuesday nights at 11pm US MT Archived shows at https://:www.mixcloud.com/megalithicmetal facebook paget https://:www.facebook.com/megalithicmetal Hey ya'll, so I am Julie, and I host a metal show called Megalithic Metal. "Megalithic" literally means "old rock formation" and what I play is mostly old rock and metal. As I noted in another thread, I've listed to Iron Maiden, Metallica, Saxon, etc. for decades, and I always hated Hair Metal as stupid, crappy pomp rock. However, more recently, a friend gave me a bunch of his old HM cassette tapes and I was enjoying them a lot - as fun, energetic, gold 'ol rock and roll... and harder than a lot of the popular blues rock that fills the oldies stations. You don't hear a lot of this music on the radio anymore... so I started Megalithic Metal for this purpose. But I don't just play Hair Metal (Glam Metal/Melodic Metal), I play Heavy and Thrash Metal, as well as the early purveyors of metal such as Black Sabbath and Deep Purple... even a little Zeppelin. A typical playlist will include Anthrax, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Twisted Sister, Michael Schenker, Testament, Loudness, Dokken, Kamelot, Black Sabbath, Ratt. Basically, a little bit of everything, with the emphasis on 80s and 90s HM. You can find it here live on Saturday nights 9 pm US MT with a repeat Tuesday nights at 11pm US MT at https://:www.lccommunityradio.org . The show is also archived at https://:www.mixcloud.com/megalithicmetal
  2. Quite frankly, I always hated hair metal. The bands were so pompous and the musicianship usually stank. The spandex "costumes" they wore were stupid, and their hair was ridiculous. But... recently, like in the past year or so, I've come to listen to it quite a bit. It's fun, energetic music, and a lot harder than the slow beat blues rock that is so popular on rock radio. I started a hair metal radio show late last year after a friend gave me a bunch of his old HM cassette tapes. I mix it with stuff I've always loved from heavier bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Saxon, and older pioneer metalers like Black Sabbath. It can be embarrassing to be playing the stuff, but really, after some 40 something years, it's good fun! (even if it's hardly metal at all, lol).
