  1. Elder - Omens Not usually the sort of thing I go for, but I've been enjoying this a good amount. I find something really uplifting and moving in listening to it tbh
  2. Thanks! Just about to stream this now, sounds like it's right up my alley tbf. Will give you my verdict! NP: The Sound - From the Lions Mouth Liking this a *lot*, just three tracks in!
  3. A glass of Sadlers' 'Peaky Blinders Spiced Rum' on just a couple ice cubes. Wonderful!
  4. 'Mr President IPA' by Brewdog. Essentially a rebranding of their Hardcore IPA, for Tesco. The only available US-style DIPA in UK supermarkets, hence it's a longstayer of mine ?
  5. No! I'm a fan of Joy Division and other post-punk bands, but not checked out The Sound yet. Maybe I should go in on them first? NP: Descendents - Milo Goes to College
  6. Sounds like something I might dig as well, actually. Will have to give that a listen!
  7. That'd be cool if you do come across one, cheers! I know I found some decent-quality YouTube footage a few years back. They had the two drummers and you could feel the extra energy/ferocity for sure! So far today: Cult of Luna - The Raging River Daughters - You Won't Get What You Want Adolescents - Adolescents Daniel Avery - Drone Logic
  8. Are there any good Melvins live recordings you'd recommend, btw? I've seen some footage and agree it captured a bit more than the studio recordings! NP: Was: Donald Byrd - A New Perspective Now: Cult of Luna - The Raging River
  9. Yeah, I've heard a few of their more 'acclaimed' albums and this is the only one I can say I love all the way through tbh. 'Experimental' music is great, but not something I always feel Melvins excel in. I like the more straight-forward approach of this one - just a collection of great heavy rock songs. A lot of fun to listen to. Was: Róisín Murphy - Róisín Machine Now: Yaeji - What We Drew 우리가 그려왔던 Getting my quota of electronic/techno/house listening in for the night. Easily 2 of my favourite non-metal releases from last year
  10. Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
  11. Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness
  12. Extreme Noise Terror - A Holocaust In Your Head
  13. Thanks man, it's nice to be back!
  14. The Jesus and Mary Chain - Darklands
  15. It's nice to be back! Folks who've been a long time might remember me as 'JBaker', but as it's been a bit of a while (with new email addresses and all that), figured I'd make a fresh account! I'm Jay, currently studying a Master's in French and living in Birmingham, UK. Music fan in general, with metal being one of my favourite genres. In terms of metal, I am kind of picky? But I can invariably find something I like in most metal/metal adjacent subgenres. A few favourites are: Black Sabbath, Neurosis, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Meshuggah, Converge, Faith No More, Deafheaven, Motorhead, Godflesh, Deftones, Dying Fetus, Faith No More, Nails, Cult of Luna, Altar of Plagues, Killing Joke. I've also spent much of today listening to Morbid Angel and having a great time As folks who knew me the first time around may attest, I also enjoy a great amount of very un-metal stuff. This has only grown over the years, but probably best left for another discussion. haha Cheers and hope you're all doing well! Looking fwd to getting stuck in again after quite a number of years
