Well, I know that here in Argentina we listen more music in english than english speakers listen our music (or music in spanish at all).
I want to tell you briefly about an iconic band from Argentina: Hermética.
Four members. Crappy and a bit obscure sound, powerful lyrics (specially talking about our reality and human relations) and a very emotive and rare voice (specially if you listen the vocalist speaking). After the separation of V8, pioneer band and with more crappier sound, Ricardio Iorio (bassis and leader) forms in 1988 Hermética calling Claudio O'Connor (lead voice), Antonio Romano (guitar, self-instructed) and Fabián Spataro (drums) to form part. Only drummer changed two times. After seven albums (three of them live) band was dissolved in 1994, when Iorio formed Almafuerte and the other members Malón with a new bassist.
Again, I know that for english speakers is not common, but i'll post here several songs. I dare you to listen them, it worth the time. Feel the emotions of the voice even without understand lyrics (I compare it, in a way, with listening Ozzy's voice without understanding words). If someone likes it, I can translate them \m/
