  1. Bathory - Twilight of the Gods - Hammerheart
MayheM - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
ManOwaR - Battle Hymns - Battle Hymn
Slayer - Reign in Blood - Raining Blood

As for, Sorrow, it's the best song on Pink Floyd's worst album, IMO.
Man, Raing Blood totally slipped my mind. Hands down one of the best closers, both on the album and live. First time I saw them on the Seasons tour they closed with Blood.
True MLR was not Floyd's best but "Learning to Fly" is the song that got me hooked so that album is pretty close to me.

  2. Mallcore is the pop/rock/hip-hop music sold as metal at mall outlets like Hot Topic to angsty teens, i.e. Slipknot, Disturbed, Korn, etc... I'm not attacking you if you like it, but it's not metal and is mostly maligned by metal fans, hence the pejorative.

Gotcha. Just never heard that term. Personally I really don't care for so-called "sub genres" just metal/hard rock etc........

  3. I think the problem with Maiden is simply that they're past their prime. The band has fired their best shots already. I agree that a double album is only justified if the songwriting is strong. BOS has a series case of first disc syndrome. The strongest material is on the 1st disc while the 2nd is essentially filler. Judas Priest did the same with Nostradamus.
I agree to a point. I could have done without Empire (even though I know a lot of people who think that is the best song). Tears of a Clown and Death or Glory should have been on disc one and River and Unknown moved to disc 2. Disc one could have been the "regular release" and disc 2 included in a "special edition".
    I would rank the songs as such;
    1. Eternity
    2. Clown
    3. BOS
    4. Death
    5. Speed
    6. Red & Black
    7. Unknown
    8. River
    9. Sorrows
    10. Valley
    11. Empire

It is still one of my favs in the post-reunion era of Maiden along with Brave New World.
Powerslave will still always be #1 on my list.

  4. Metal Church is way too underrated for how good they were.

Oh yes. "Blessing in Disguise" was my first intro to Metal Church. What an amazing album. I saw the video for "Badlands" and i was hooked. Made me go back to older albums. Really dig the old stuff. "Ton of Bricks" and "The Dark" are two of my favorite songs along with "Watch the Children Pray".
It got a bad rap but I also really like "The Human Factor". Some really great songs on that disc. "Agent Green" and "In Harm's Way" are a couple that I always seem to skip to.

  5. The Book of Souls is one of my favorite Maiden albums. Been a fan since I saw the video for "Stranger in a Strange Land" way back when. "Somewhere in Time" was the third Metal Album I ever bought so it kinda has a special place. I too was stoked at the announcement of Bruce and Adrian com8ng back and actually enjoyed "Brave New World". "Ghost of the Navigator" is one of my favorite modern era Maiden songs.
I finally got to see them on the BOS tour (both Oklahoma stops) which was a long time coming. Bruce still sounds amazing live and those guys can still put on a show.
I agree that the post Blaze era albums are not as good as the 70's and 80's albums but like it was said earlier, BOS was in the right direction. I really like all of the songs, but unlike others, Empire is my least favorite. "Tears of a Clown" tops my list with "Death or Glory" right behind it.
My all time favorite album will always be "Powerslave" 06bb2cdc009453f692c95b246dea4919.jpg

  6. Since joining this forum: Necrot, Exodus, Acephalix, Cathedral, Gorguts. I'm sure I'll say something different.
Love Exodus. So glad that Souza is back. Been really liking "Blood In, Blood Out". Exhibit B was really good in my opinion even though it was not generally rated very high.
Go to see them on the "Impact is Immanent" tour w/Pantera and Prong.

  7. Fates Warning is in my top 5 most favorite bands of all time. Got to meet them and hang with them at 2 shows (Cincinnati and Cleveland) on the Perfect Symmetry tour. Got into the right after Awaken The Guardian came out...
Awesome, always cool when you get to meet these guys and realize they are just like the rest if us.

  8. Recently been into:
Lost Society - Finnish old school thrash
    Devin Townsend - Epicloud
    Budgie
Mythotin - Sign of the Ravens and King of the Distant Forest
Fates Warning - Theories of Flight
Fates Warning is a name I haven't heard in along time. I remember when "No Exit" came out. Kind ground breaking at the time. Epic album.

  9. I've never been that into Sabbath, but I really like Paranoid, have the super deluxe box set. I like the first Sabbath album but it has way too much filler in there, they should have waited until they had more good songs to record an album. Haven't really heard much else by them. What would you recommend I listen to next?
Start from the beginning and just work your way through! Enjoy.
