Alien 1981

ALIEN is a french hardrock band that formed in the late 70′s in the Cherbourg area in Normandy, FR. They took the same path as of their comtemporaries SILVERTRAIN, BADGE or OCEAN. Their debut and only vinyl release was a privately issued full lenght 8 tracks LP, which was quite uncommon for local hardrock bands of that time. The album “Futurophobie” was recorded at Studio 17 in Clamart on a weekend in july 1981. Taking their influences from the likes of Led Zeppelin, Dr Feelgood or early AC/DC, but operating in his original style, Alien was mixing heavy guitars, a solid rhythm section and some proggy keys with a rough bluesy voice. Lyrics, mostly in french, are about a bleak / dehumanized future, deseperation and social isolation. Pretty timeless though ! The album being self-released, without a proper distribtion, added to fact that Alien disbanded straight after the recording, it went quickly into obscurity. It’s a real lost gem from that time when hardrock was mutating from the 70′s to the 80′s. New Wave Of French Heavy Metal ? It could have been…Some of the band members went to play later with DAMOCLES or SHELDER. Now reissued on black vinyl, with a gatefold sleeve, remastered by Gaël Hallier, and is limited to 500 copies.
