Something really mellow and melodic...maybe progressive? With some awesome vocals. Yes, very vague, but what the hell.

I liked it. (god, I fucking love this forum for introducing me into so much more awesome music!) I really liked the vocals, and the lyrics are great too. The atmosphere the song creates is great. Dunno if it's been done, or...meh. Opeth - Master's Apprentices - YouTubeSorry not a fan, sounded a bit dated. 6/10 YBfkDH3F1GA -
I like: Jeff Hanneman, Kirk Hammet, John Petrucci, Jimmy Page, Dimebag Darrell, Mark Tremonti, and Mikael Akerfeldt. Well, those are the ones who I can think of atm.

I lol'ed when my friend said Metallica have been solid all the way through. He had listened to St Anger too.If Testament had split up after Souls Of Black I wonder if people would actually give them a little more credit. Then again three or four solid albums should never be enough for a band to be considered great which is why I am always staggered Metallica are so revered by so many metalheads. Don't get me wrong I like their first four albums but Metallica are far from the masters of thrash metal people would have you believe -
You're older than me, so I don't feel..."qualified" to give this advice, but...please. Don't. What I've found is that people surprise you. And, as the die-hard idealist I am, I view people as brilliant flashes of colour on the canvas of life. I'm way too sentimental and emotional for my own good, frankly, and I care too much for people who don't really care for me. That's led me to get hurt. Eventually, though, I've started slowly, but surely, letting people in...and I'm glad. They don't fully understand, even if I've simplified how I feel about things, but they've tried to, and have respected and accepted my feelings. I'm emotional. I care too much about things that probably won't happen. I overthink things, and I want to change the world for good. I'm young. We still exist. I want to leave this world having had a good life and a positive impact on others; and have remained a idealist and happy person where so many others are broken and negative. Please don't kill yourself. I don't even know you, but I'd miss you on this forum. I imagine many others feel the same. You're still so young too.All I see in this world are all the shit filled people ignorant of the world of pain and suffering around them and yet I'm the only one who wants to do something about it and for this I get shunned away from anyone because they don't understand or they call me a hippie and and that bullshit. I do nothing but care about people and what do I get nothing I just get what very little I had taken away from me and harder I try to hold on to it the more it slips through my fingers. The more I want to help and care the more everyone around me shuts me out and pushes me away. I have no friends not because I want to but because no one takes the fucking time to understand me. Everything is this life and this world is fucked. The only thing I have left is the cold embrace of death and even that can't come the way I want it. Fuck this world and everyone in it. -
yaay' date=' er well yes I must agree with that. XD[/quote'] Fuck modesty, accept the truth when it is presented. ;D

OP, I'm the opposite: reading is ma fave. I love all sorts of books, and don't really have a definite list of favourite authors - but Stephen King is up there. Misery, The Green Mile, Carrie, and The Shining are definitely in my favourites. I think King definitely has something for everyone. I'm also currently in love with The Killer Inside Me, Bridge to Terabithia, and Let the Right One In. For classics, I haven't read too many, but all of the ones I've read, I've loved: To Kill A Mockingbird, A Clockwork Orange, The Great Gatsby, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, and Slaughterhouse-five. What the hell, I guess I love most books.

Heh, thank you. You're pretty awesome yourselfWow, you are so awesome I completely agree with you. -
Just one girl's opinion: I hate gender stereotypes. I hate thinking that one person should act one way while another should act the other. I love masculinity, I love femininity, I love androgyny. I hate prejudice, and just wish people would let others be and like what they damn well please.

ikr: it's like, you can't have it both ways! and thanksYeah it sucks how many chauvinistic male metalheads you'll find, and it's weird because they all complain that they can't get their girlfriends into metal! Well, if they act that way, no wonder! Anyways, welcome. -
Porcupine Tree - Trains (In Absentia) - YouTube Reminds me so much of youth and Summer...gives me a feeling of freedom and nostalgia.

Of course it does Cheers for the recommendations. I'll check them outWelcome, I'm 16 if that counts. If you want melodeath, I can probably help. Maybe check out Swallow The Sun, Eternal Tears Of Sorrow, and Callenish Circle if you like Insomnium ^^. -
I liked them both - Insomnium I preferred, though. Thanks! Here is some Melodic Death Metal since you like In Flames check these bands out and tell me if you like them.Insomnium - Journey Unknown - YouTube -
Good taste there' date=' Goose. Welcome.[/quote'] Thanks!

Thanks very much! I'm definitely going to check out that band: I liked that song:) I think a lot of the time, girls are afraid of identifying as metalheads because of the negative connotations attached to being female and liking something "male orientated". Perfect example is video games. My xbox live name is gender neutral, but my friend's isn't, and she gets loads of shit from people online. It's a shame, but thankfully I've stayed away from it and all of the metalheads I've talked to have been awesome.Hi! Always awesome to see girls into metal. Trying to get my girlfriend interested in the genre, so far I've only had luck with bands like Rammstein and Deathstars. A start though. You have awesome taste though. Opeth and Porcupine Tree are two of my favorites. Since you seem to like prog metal, I think you'd enjoy Mastodon. 9d75JaaUVuU -
welcome to our humble forum. I'm sure we can help you find many' date=' many fantastic new bands. I remember how hard it was to findd quality bands when I first started getting into metal about ten years ago now.[/quote'] Thanks guys

Woo, a fellow metalhead teen I've never really seen many people my age who like metal...however, I did see one dude with an Iced Earth t-shirt once. never did get to talk to him though. I'll check out Razor, thanks!Hey great to see that more girls my age like metal! \m/ you're only 1 year younger than me, still waiting for my metal girl xD anyways, welcome to the forum! What oldschool metal do you like? Oh yeah err Testament, Overkill and Megadeth I like, what about Razor? Something a bit more extreme, try Razor - The Marshall Arts on youtube (can't really send links as i am on ny phone in the car and my internet is quite slow) -
I'm a fifteen-year-old girl from Newcastle, England. Relatively new to metal (I started liking A7x when I was 13, then moved on to more prog and thrash) and hoping to find some new bands/artists to get into. The bands I love at the moment are: Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Testament, Overkill, Exodus, Dream Theater, In Flames, Megadeth, Metallica, Pantera, Symphony X, and Iron Maiden. I'd love some recommendations
