I really like music! Especially the heavy or the weird and wonderful. I also love writing, and started doing reviews for Valkyrian Music in 2014. It's mildly addictive. One of the biggest things for me is playing guitar (and dbbling in other stringed instruments). I'm not a shredder, not by a long chalk, but I can teach myself to play really intense technical stuff when it pops into my head as the right thing for a song. I just always prefered toying with unusual rhythms.I can run a proper gig on a budget of pretty much zero, but that's powered by the anticipation of seeing a whole bunch of stupidly happy faces at the end of the night.Bring on the underdog!Second chances aren't given, they're earned. When you're on my ship, if you ain't gonna pull an oar, get out and swim!

Big Paul's Achievements

  1. Hello folks, Just throwing a line out here to see if any of you are Scotland based or interested in travelling to join our noisy scene at some point. I've been running a two stage metal showcase in Dundee for the last 6 years called Hordes Of Belial, and this year I'm working on a series of warm-up shows under the name of SLAUGHTERPIT. The next one will feature Collapse from London, Triverse Massacre from Carlisle, and Lucifers Corpus from Edinburgh. Future shows are set to include Green Jelly, Lifer, and more. If this sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to join us on the Facebook page via the link below! I'll try to post updates here as soon as possible. https://www.facebook.com/events/1155035311173333/
  2. Apologies for the unwieldy layout. I don't seem to be able to do anything about it.
  3. Hodes of belial is a yearly metal showcase held in Dundee on the last Saturday of each September.2014 will see 15 bands spread over the two stages, including:Def Con OneParty CannonDog TiredThreshold SicksBisongrassAtragonRed CommandAmokDanny, Champion Of Nothing+ moreCheck out the Facebook event page over here:https://www.facebook.com/events/435401453236790/
  4. I think this is the right place to fire this in - I'm running a blog on music industry issues and how they actually relate to underground bands. The idea is to provide bands with a breakdown of currently reported trends and factors, so that they mean something real to non-mainstream artists. It is still in its early days, but there are a small number of articles already posted, including a couple of interviews delving into the relative experiences of those who have been and done. Feel free to browse through the archive, and don't be shy about leaving feedback on the blog or its FaceBook page. The blog Underground In Prydain The FB page https://www.facebook.com/undergroundinprydain Also, there's plenty of room for posters to be included, so drop me a message at [email protected] if you're interested in inclusion. Rates will be silly low, I won't be placing anything that doesn't relate to the general subject of the blog or the interests of its readers.
  5. This is the third yearly outing for Scotland's Hordes Of Belial festival, set up to raise awareness of our lively metal and hard rock community, the bands from here and those who come to join us from everywhere! Check us out on FB here; http://www.facebook.com/events/177839088948376/
