As Empires Fall is a young, exciting metal band from the eastern part of the Netherlands. Founded by former members of Bodyrot and Incission, the band came together through a want for true, heartfelt music. Tired of the fixed boundaries between the subgenres that exist within the metal culture, they aim to make metal that comes from the heart, not from a 101 textbook of genres in metal. Musically, this band is about contrast. Their music is melodic and rhythmic at the same time. Staccato riffs go hand in hand with fluent melodies, and extreme death metal parts are mixed with energetic ‘djenty’ passages. The vocals are wide-ranged as well; hardcore screams and low-pitched growls are combined with soothing cleans. Lyrically, the band is fixed on a call for renewal. Dealing with the end of days and the importance of revolution, the lyrics give a voice to feelings of insecurity about the future. The band negates the supremacy of fixed societal norms and voices critique against the path that modern society has taken. As Empires Fall has played with many bands such as Sepultura, Kudra Mata, Chiraw and Maggie’s Bookshop and have their sights set on playing many more venues and destroying all stages along their way. This is metal; modern, extreme, intelligent and most importantly, heartfelt!
