i am a woman of metal from helsinki. favorites include naturally many finnish bands; Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Amorphis, Apocalyptica, Stratovarius... HIM was also great in their earlier days. Ffreign favorites are somewhat gothic but not only; Type O negative, Moonspell, Sentenced, Dream Theater, Mötörhead and even occasionally funky stuff like Mötley Crüe

My 2 cents: Moonspell - esp. Irreligious album Nightwish (they do various styles but fall under this one too, imho) Type O Negative

its better sober when you can appreciate the nuances, but it does happen a lot when im drunk, too...
