  1. Satyricon's first 3 albums should strike a chord with you. They're similar to early Darkthrone and Gorgoroth, but with lots of folk influences and more melodic guitar lines. I love how abrupt the transitions in Dark Medieval Times are, from raw ass kicking to flute and acoustic guitars, it doesn't seem like it should work, but it does. best Satyricon song is KING, hands down.
  2. Looks like you tend to gravitate toward the more melodic/blastbeat driven end of the spectrum, but there's nothing wrong with that. Be sure to check out Dawn, Sacramentum, Necrophobic, Mörk Gryning, Arckanum, Dissection, Svartsyn, newer Immortal, Unanimated, Ondskapt, Merrimack, Lunar Aurora, etc... for more along similar lines. thanks man, i'll have to check them out.
  3. Xasthur is a definite candidate for this' date=' but Leviathan really isn't. I guess their demos would qualify, but their albums are clear enough to be able to hear everything pretty easily, despite the somewhat murky atmosphere they create. Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2[/quote'] I shall give them another listen
  4. I disagree with your first point' date=' but I could see someone thinking that if they didn't like the music from those two bands, as they are highly praised. Not sure how you could emphatically state that "black metal sucks" though, at least make sure to give more than the mainstream bands a chance before you throw that out there. Edguy symbolizes everything that is wrong with European power metal to me, so I can't disagree with your last point. Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2[/quote'] I actually like Blind Guardian but I just don't think they are the be all end all. And the black metal bands I like are Dimmu Borgir, Naglfar, Watain, Dark Funeral, Marduk and a few more.
  5. Bollocks' date=' some of that stuff is great, even if it doesn't appeal to you. Any specific bands in mind?[/quote'] can't really think of any specifically, but the black metal just sounds like static and the vocals sound like they were recorded a mile away. Xasthur or Leviathan come to mind.
