USDM has and always will be my favorite scene

I'll always love metal the most of all musical styles, but hardcore, goth, and post punk would all be behind it in my library at least. Hardcore taking a distant second for me.

Dark Angel comfortably, really. Spectrum of death is solidly above the albums after Darkness descends, but Darkness descends is superior in musicianship, lyrics, riffs, drumming, and just about every way. Vocals might be up for debate though.

In Battle there is no Law, and Realm of Chaos are both great albums. Not much else to say about them other than they're heavy, fast, and their running time allows them to not run themselves into being totally unmemorable. Quality stuff.

In terms of sheer influence Morbid Angel more or less was the most influential dm band, most bands owe their existence to them, but Suffo is likely the most relevant bands having more or less inspired brutal death metal, deathcore, and technical death metal (along with latter-era Death).
