watching episode 3 of top gear, have yet to watch the 4th but I have seen one of the best things ever, the Top Gear trio doing a Thunderbirds intro. well, finished the episode, and the series has been awesome so far, but I have to say episode 3 is the best so far, watching the latest episode tomorrow.

Recently finished all eight seasons of Dexter. Loved the show, but for some reason the finale left me crying like a little bitch. I mean, I can get a little misty-eyed every once in a blue moon, maybe even a catch in the throat, but I honestly don't think I've ever in my life just sat there with a tissue held up to my face, completely bawling my eyes out, tears actually obscuring my vision. I had to watch the last ten minutes three times just to get it out of my system. Was weird. I fucking wept, dude. WTF?!

I gave up on Dexter about halfway through season four. I can not believe they made eight seasons of that show. Think the only time I've cried watching a tv show was the first season of Pokemon when Ash released Butterfree and I was like eight years old so it doesn't really count.

Dude, season 4 was one of the best seasons. Jon Lithgow was the best villain that show ever had. So fucking creepy. And *Spoiler* when Deb finally finds out about Dex at the end of season 6, and then all of season 7? Fucking fantastic.

I just never found season four that engaging. The first 2 seasons were fantastic but somewhere along the way I just lost interest. That happens to me with a lot of shows actually. Actually the tv show I'm really enjoying right now is Galipoli. I don't think it's available outside of Australia but it is really very good. Not sure how historically accurate it is though.

He was fantastic. But that series is so heavily plagued by god fucking awful acting that I cant take it seriously, this is of course excluding Michael C Hall who I dont even have to defend the talent of. But for real, rest of that cast is TRASH, and the writing is nothing special either. I cant stand it tbh. But as I always say, different strokes. Better Call Saul in just four episodes has shown the seemingly endless talent Vince Gilligan has to add depth to a story that one would typically perceive as one dimensional. I'm extremely critical of series and film in general, even forsaking my close-to-heart gems like Sons of Anarchy when they begin to drop the ball but honestly I've seen all the proof I need to say that Gilligan is simply a mastermind on the silver screen, even when you dont quite get it the first time, you will.

I'm much more forgiving of both television and film. By season 4 Michael C. Hall's obvious talent wasn't enough of a redeeming factor for me to continue watching. On a similar note the convulted plot of Supernatural has kept me away from that show (for the most part anyway) since the end of season 3. You know those shows that peak early and just need to die? Buffy The Vampire Slayer did the exact same thing although the end of season six and some of season seven were at least watchable.

Supernatural is brilliant till the end of the season 5, it has a very good story. Now it's just getting worse.

They lost me when they brought in angels - which in the previous season weren't a thing - and turned Lilith from the big boss into a pussified minor character.
Give it a try, the story is actually very good. I was also skeptic about angels but it didn't turn out as I imagined. Season 5 is really good, and if you ask me, it should have ended there.
Just read that House of Cards season 3 is going to be added to Netflix on the 27th' date=' totally looking forward to that.[/quote'] I'm stalking house of cards for month now :D can't wait, it's one of the best shows I've seen recently.

I've seen through to the end of season six of Supernatural in it's entirety and a handful of episodes from each season thereafter. I just think the show peaked with season 3, got near there with season 5 and now it's unwatchable. Making Dean a demon could, and should, have played out so much better.

I've seen a few seasons of Supernatural. I watched till about a season after Castiel showed up then kinda lost interest. Don't know what season that was though.
I think season 4. I liked the fifth season because it completed the story. Now they are just making stuff up. Season 6, with the leviathans, was the most boring one.

    • Whichever tier of thrash metal you consigned Sacred Reich back in the 80's/90's they still had their moments.  "Ignorance" & "Surf Nicaragura" did a great job of establishing the band, whereas "The American Way" just got a little to comfortable and accessible (the title track grates nowadays) for my ears.  A couple more records better left forgotten about and then nothing for twenty three years.  2019 alone has now seen three releases from Phil Rind and co.  A live EP, a split EP with Iron Reagan and now a full length.

Notable addition to the ranks for the current throng of releases is former Machine Head sticksman, Dave McClean.  Love or hate Machine Head, McClean is a more than capable drummer and his presence here is felt from the off with the opening and title track kicking things off with some real gusto.  'Divide & Conquer' and 'Salvation' muddle along nicely, never quite reaching any quality that would make my balls tingle but comfortable enough.  The looming build to 'Manifest Reality' delivers a real punch when the song starts proper.  Frenzied riffs and drums with shots of lead work to hold the interest.

There's a problem already though (I know, I am such a fucking mood hoover).  I don't like Phil's vocals.  I never had if I am being honest.  The aggression to them seems a little forced even when they are at their best on tracks like 'Manifest Reality'.  When he tries to sing it just feels weak though ('Salvation') and tracks lose real punch.  Give him a riffy number such as 'Killing Machine' and he is fine with the Reich engine (probably a poor choice of phrase) up in sixth gear.  For every thrashy riff there's a fair share of rock edged, local bar act rhythm aplenty too.

Let's not poo-poo proceedings though, because overall I actually enjoy "Awakening".  It is stacked full of catchy riffs that are sticky on the old ears.  Whilst not as raw as perhaps the - brilliant - artwork suggests with its black and white, tattoo flash sheet style design it is enjoyable enough.  Yes, 'Death Valley' & 'Something to Believe' have no place here, saved only by Arnett and Radziwill's lead work but 'Revolution' is a fucking 80's thrash heyday throwback to the extent that if you turn the TV on during it you might catch a new episode of Cheers!

    • Full length number 19 from overkill certainly makes a splash in the energy stakes, I mean there's some modern thrash bands that are a good two decades younger than Overkill who can only hope to achieve the levels of spunk that New Jersey's finest produce here.  That in itself is an achievement, for a band of Overkill's stature and reputation to be able to still sound relevant four decades into their career is no mean feat.  Even in the albums weaker moments it never gets redundant and the energy levels remain high.  There's a real sense of a band in a state of some renewed vigour, helped in no small part by the addition of Jason Bittner on drums.  The former Flotsam & Jetsam skinsman is nothing short of superb throughout "The Wings of War" and seems to have squeezed a little extra out of the rest of his peers.

The album kicks of with a great build to opening track "Last Man Standing" and for the first 4 tracks of the album the Overkill crew stomp, bash and groove their way to a solid level of consistency.  The lead work is of particular note and Blitz sounds as sneery and scathing as ever.  The album is well produced and mixed too with all parts of the thrash machine audible as the five piece hammer away at your skull with the usual blend of chugging riffs and infectious anthems.

There are weak moments as mentioned but they are more a victim of how good the strong tracks are.  In it's own right "Distortion" is a solid enough - if not slightly varied a journey from the last offering - but it just doesn't stand up well against a "Bat Shit Crazy" or a "Head of a Pin".  As the album draws to a close you get the increasing impression that the last few tracks are rescued really by some great solos and stomping skin work which is a shame because trimming of a couple of tracks may have made this less obvious.
