Oh yes, every night. You want proof? Sometimes the last biscuit goes missing from the jar and no-one admits to taking it, sometimes the coffee machine is running low on water even though everyone know

Natassja Tractor or Combine Harvester

Hmmmmm you make a hard argument my friend... sharks vs avalanches... If there are sharks around Hawaii, I don't really know. I'll go snowboarding and just pray the mountain isn't pissed off that day. I don't have any problems staying warm... well, if there are trees near by at least. I'd be fucked on top of the mountain.

Would you rather eat a giant bag of sugar or drink a whole bottle of franks red hot sauce, all in one sitting for both.

Well, the primates could provide some companionship on some level yet they defecate a lot, whereas the reptiles should be relatively low maintenance but are pretty static.

I'll go with reptiles.

If you were going to learn a language would you learn Italian or Spanish (assuming you don't already speak them)?

Hmmm. There would be something quite amazing about conducting an orchestra, but it must also be brilliant to be a soloist. Cymbals are out.

I'll go with soloist and then try to work my way up to conductor once I tire of that position.

Would you rather be a carpenter or an electrician?

I have to go accountant. I deplore the business world and all that goes with it, but I would need money for travel.

The janitor life definitely appeals though, but I think when I peel away my initial romantic image of the carefree jolly janitor I would take the cash rather than fix a clogged toilet or remove graffiti.

Would you rather drive a bus or a taxi? (I'm currently on a bus incidentally).

Dave Lombardo.. If i was Nick Menza i would propably be traumatized for life by Dave Mustaine. :D:D:D

Would you rather go to Moon or Mars?

I mean, aside from Menza being dead, the real question is whether you'd rather have been traumatized by Dave Mustaine or Kerry King. And nobody else can answer that kind of question for you.

Mars, colony, new horizons, less chance of bone loss due to low gravity!

Swim the English Channel, or traverse the Sahara on foot? Assume supplies are provided.

I like Mustaine, but he can be an asshole at times, much like myself. And Nick's been gone for.... shit gotta be at least half a year or a year by now I think.

I could walk through the Sahara, just do it at night.

(Mustaine jokes incoming!) Would you rather be Dave's parents, his son, his daughter, or his wife?

Coroner! Naturally.

Tom G Warrior or Quorthon? (Assume you get to be alive)

So glad I get to answer this!

Quorthon for sure. To be the kreator of not one but two genres? Sign me up.

Woud you rather be Fenriz or Ihsahn?

Edit: Dammit, deathstorm beat me too it.

Ok, I'd rather be Ben and Jerry so I can eat the ice-cream. They're ice-cream people right?

Ok now it's would you rather be Fenriz or Ihsahn?

    • Whichever tier of thrash metal you consigned Sacred Reich back in the 80's/90's they still had their moments.  "Ignorance" & "Surf Nicaragura" did a great job of establishing the band, whereas "The American Way" just got a little to comfortable and accessible (the title track grates nowadays) for my ears.  A couple more records better left forgotten about and then nothing for twenty three years.  2019 alone has now seen three releases from Phil Rind and co.  A live EP, a split EP with Iron Reagan and now a full length.

Notable addition to the ranks for the current throng of releases is former Machine Head sticksman, Dave McClean.  Love or hate Machine Head, McClean is a more than capable drummer and his presence here is felt from the off with the opening and title track kicking things off with some real gusto.  'Divide & Conquer' and 'Salvation' muddle along nicely, never quite reaching any quality that would make my balls tingle but comfortable enough.  The looming build to 'Manifest Reality' delivers a real punch when the song starts proper.  Frenzied riffs and drums with shots of lead work to hold the interest.

There's a problem already though (I know, I am such a fucking mood hoover).  I don't like Phil's vocals.  I never had if I am being honest.  The aggression to them seems a little forced even when they are at their best on tracks like 'Manifest Reality'.  When he tries to sing it just feels weak though ('Salvation') and tracks lose real punch.  Give him a riffy number such as 'Killing Machine' and he is fine with the Reich engine (probably a poor choice of phrase) up in sixth gear.  For every thrashy riff there's a fair share of rock edged, local bar act rhythm aplenty too.

Let's not poo-poo proceedings though, because overall I actually enjoy "Awakening".  It is stacked full of catchy riffs that are sticky on the old ears.  Whilst not as raw as perhaps the - brilliant - artwork suggests with its black and white, tattoo flash sheet style design it is enjoyable enough.  Yes, 'Death Valley' & 'Something to Believe' have no place here, saved only by Arnett and Radziwill's lead work but 'Revolution' is a fucking 80's thrash heyday throwback to the extent that if you turn the TV on during it you might catch a new episode of Cheers!
