Hell Teacher Nube! I remembered this anime a few weeks ago while I was taking a dump in the dark one night. This anime was episodic(not sure can't really remember well) and is about a teacher that has a hand of a demon. He uses his hand to exorcise ghost and stuff haunting the school. There is one episode in this anime where a white mist-like hand suddenly pops out of the toilet boil and haunts whoever is taking a dump. This episode was the reason why I peed on my bed a lot when I was a kid.

I used to have a pathological fear of a lamprey in the toilet lunging out and somehow zooming up my ass like a really proactive tapeworm.

Your comment reminds me, though - the Ghost Stories dub is hysterical.

I'd be more scared of the lamprey than the ghostly hand though.

Never heard of Ghost Stories but MAL rating is 7.8/10 and IMDb is 8.3/10 so I'd give it a try later. The first thing that comes to mind when I hear comedy anime is Working! , you should give it a try if haven't watched it yet.

I'm usually a bigger fan of shounen and/or other fighting kinda stuff, but I've gotten a bit more exposure to comedy anime recently. I might actually like Working! since I used to work in food service. My friend is watching One Punch Man, and I've been watching over his shoulder. Seems pretty good and funny so far, I've never seen a Dilbert character be the hero of an anime before.

Recently watched Hellsing Ultimate. Overall I'd say 5.5/10 it's ok without being great. The problem with an anime being just one season of 10 episodes is very little room for character development and pacing. Upside there's no filler episodes. It left me wanting more so I suppose that's good as it means the series wasn't awful. At the same time there's no real sense of closure.

What I liked most would have to be the violence. Whether it was Alucard, Anderson, or even Seras on occassion this was hands down the bloodiest anime I've seen. Over the top in every possible way is exactly what I want from anime - particularly an anime involving vampires.

What I disliked most...the soundtrack. It freakin' sucked. Wildly inappropriate for the most part the soundtrack often took away from what would otherwise have been impactful scenes. Case and point London is burning, vampires are sacking the city and people are terrified. You know what DOESN'T fit this scene at all? Fucking JPop I'll leave it there.

What I would have liked to see more of? Seras struggling with herself. For the most part Seras comes off as innocent, almost a comic relief character at times, that was fine (once I got over how god damned awful the scene with her learning she's a vampire was). Then all of a sudden she turns all pissed off and badass for half an episode. Then she's all innocent and a little whiny again for pretty much the rest of the series. If they had just developed the character a little more and changed that first scene with her as a vampire. How does it feel to be a vampire? *cheeky grin* wait what *freakout*? Sorry but that really got under my skin.

I used to be into a lot of anime when I was young teen but kinda slipped out of it aside from the classics. Just now getting back into some as of the past year.  I absolutely loved Parasyte. Devilman Crybaby was a pretty fun watch as well.  Lately though its been all about Dragon Ball Super. I loved DB as a kid and kinda neglected the new stuff for a while but I saw the trailer for the Broly movie and now Ive already watched every english dub, going to start the subs here in the next few days and probably be finished in 2 weeks. I think it's pretty great, the new animation makes for superb fight scenes and theyve made some surprisingly intriguing arcs with the new vilians.

The animation was wonky early on and I hated the rehashing of the previous two movies as arcs but full credit to Toei for getting their shit together after that. I struggled through the sub for the final ten episodes because I got impatient and it's brilliant. It'll be better when I can follow the dialogue a bit easier though.

I used to watch a decent amount of anime: Vampire Hunter D, Ninja Scroll, Wicked City, Evangelion, Escaflowne and the Miyazki movies among others. I remember really getting a kick out of Shin-Chan for a while.

I didn't get that deep into manga, just Akira and Appleseed. It was too hard to find decent manga as most of the stuff that made it over to my bookstore was made specifically with angsty American teenagers in mind (which coincidentally, is the problem with most anime that makes it in the US now-- it's produced primarily for American teen audiences instead of Japanese audiences and it shows)

I enjoy it... particularly the horror stuff (anime)

thus Kisabe spoke...
the Junjo ito shorts
Another
Berserk
Made in Abyss (which is kinda cool, dont let the style fool you)
Shiki
Kings Game

Not horror related but has a good story
To your Eternity - about a bring that becomes anything it spends enough time with
Vinland Saga - yes, its about Vikings
Tower of God - fantasy stuff
steins Gate - tme travel

lets see... recently watched Chainsaw Man, and it was OK.

And if you enjoy cooking at all... "Foods Wars" is a must

Arifureta has a good first season with some comical moments, but is pretty dark, especially when the dude eats the bears arm as revenge for it eating his.... second season was meh

Alice in Borderland - simpy awesome, though a little short

    • Whichever tier of thrash metal you consigned Sacred Reich back in the 80's/90's they still had their moments.  "Ignorance" & "Surf Nicaragura" did a great job of establishing the band, whereas "The American Way" just got a little to comfortable and accessible (the title track grates nowadays) for my ears.  A couple more records better left forgotten about and then nothing for twenty three years.  2019 alone has now seen three releases from Phil Rind and co.  A live EP, a split EP with Iron Reagan and now a full length.

Notable addition to the ranks for the current throng of releases is former Machine Head sticksman, Dave McClean.  Love or hate Machine Head, McClean is a more than capable drummer and his presence here is felt from the off with the opening and title track kicking things off with some real gusto.  'Divide & Conquer' and 'Salvation' muddle along nicely, never quite reaching any quality that would make my balls tingle but comfortable enough.  The looming build to 'Manifest Reality' delivers a real punch when the song starts proper.  Frenzied riffs and drums with shots of lead work to hold the interest.

There's a problem already though (I know, I am such a fucking mood hoover).  I don't like Phil's vocals.  I never had if I am being honest.  The aggression to them seems a little forced even when they are at their best on tracks like 'Manifest Reality'.  When he tries to sing it just feels weak though ('Salvation') and tracks lose real punch.  Give him a riffy number such as 'Killing Machine' and he is fine with the Reich engine (probably a poor choice of phrase) up in sixth gear.  For every thrashy riff there's a fair share of rock edged, local bar act rhythm aplenty too.

Let's not poo-poo proceedings though, because overall I actually enjoy "Awakening".  It is stacked full of catchy riffs that are sticky on the old ears.  Whilst not as raw as perhaps the - brilliant - artwork suggests with its black and white, tattoo flash sheet style design it is enjoyable enough.  Yes, 'Death Valley' & 'Something to Believe' have no place here, saved only by Arnett and Radziwill's lead work but 'Revolution' is a fucking 80's thrash heyday throwback to the extent that if you turn the TV on during it you might catch a new episode of Cheers!

    • Full length number 19 from overkill certainly makes a splash in the energy stakes, I mean there's some modern thrash bands that are a good two decades younger than Overkill who can only hope to achieve the levels of spunk that New Jersey's finest produce here.  That in itself is an achievement, for a band of Overkill's stature and reputation to be able to still sound relevant four decades into their career is no mean feat.  Even in the albums weaker moments it never gets redundant and the energy levels remain high.  There's a real sense of a band in a state of some renewed vigour, helped in no small part by the addition of Jason Bittner on drums.  The former Flotsam & Jetsam skinsman is nothing short of superb throughout "The Wings of War" and seems to have squeezed a little extra out of the rest of his peers.

The album kicks of with a great build to opening track "Last Man Standing" and for the first 4 tracks of the album the Overkill crew stomp, bash and groove their way to a solid level of consistency.  The lead work is of particular note and Blitz sounds as sneery and scathing as ever.  The album is well produced and mixed too with all parts of the thrash machine audible as the five piece hammer away at your skull with the usual blend of chugging riffs and infectious anthems.

There are weak moments as mentioned but they are more a victim of how good the strong tracks are.  In it's own right "Distortion" is a solid enough - if not slightly varied a journey from the last offering - but it just doesn't stand up well against a "Bat Shit Crazy" or a "Head of a Pin".  As the album draws to a close you get the increasing impression that the last few tracks are rescued really by some great solos and stomping skin work which is a shame because trimming of a couple of tracks may have made this less obvious.
