Re: The Nightsweat Zone - The Worst Gig In The World Ever!!! Awesome idea, this should be a fun thread... A bit difficult, but: Black Veil Brides Bink-182 Ke$ha Khanate Justin Bieber feat. Rebecca Black, Jenna Rose and Devin Fox. MAY GOD HAVE MERCY UPON OUR SOULS... :o Yeah, I hate Khanate. I cannot abide those vocals.

Re: The Nightsweat Zone - The Worst Gig In The World Ever!!! Worst gig ever. Even the bands you had in your first list would have electric guitars, that'd be one redeeming quality. Although I somewhat have to disagree with Eminem. He's annoying, perhaps, but he has a certain comedic element in some of his music which puts him above more conventional rappers. I think Li'l Wayne would be worse. Although my worst 'false metal' lineup would probably be: Atreyu Avenged Sevenfold Black Veil Brides or Skillet Oceano Slipknot

Re: The Nightsweat Zone - The Worst Gig In The World Ever!!! Have you heard 'Friday', 'Hooked On You' or 'My Jeans'? Those songs have got to be worse than anything Kanye West or Paul McCartney can conjure up. I'll post them if need be.

Re: The Nightsweat Zone - The Worst Gig In The World Ever!!! Hi Iceni, Whose songs are they? I must admit I have become almost a pop hermit of late - I literally haven't got a clue what's going on out there. Having said which, it'll take a lot to trump the truly nauseas feeling I get whenever watching McCartney and the blood-boiling anger and the arrogant yet strange "I'm-still-tyring-to-work-out-where-I-am-McDonalds?" Kanye :x !!! Still, I'm always happy to be proved wrong! :D

Re: The Nightsweat Zone - The Worst Gig In The World Ever!!! And you know what? Black actually issued a response video! This song is essentially directed at her critics! And it STILL sucks! 2OxWD85Ngz4

Re: The Nightsweat Zone - The Worst Gig In The World Ever!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep, horrible, I couldn't finish watching them. Still, I'd rather listen to that vacuous music than my own personal bug-bears. I guess we all have different things which get to us and conceited arrogance combined with IMHO extremely low musical merit, especially the plain discordant Hip Hop, really annoy me. At least those songs were cheerful, and, to me, if your going to write rubbish, it might as well be happy rubbish. Still, I'm the guy who loves DragonForce! Re. The spoof video :lol::lol::lol::lol: !!! I nearly laughed my guts out, that was so funny "We want you because you have rich parents!" lol (I've run out ot smilies!) and the car crash ending was briliant. Thanks Iceni, you've made my morning! Still, I don't think you've plummed the depths of glib until you've seen some of the stuff the British X Factor contestants come up with. Have a look, if your dare... F3EG4olrFjY u4px33-IJBg _J-ZzSKNW_8 Now this is awful in a distinctly British way - it stinks and is of low and repetative quality, yet fails to realise it and thinks it's really sincere, emotional and deep or else really good cheeky-chappy quality fun. Grunt.

You could do far worse than the videos you posted. Lewis represented the best that pop can offer, which is essentially R&B. Not particularly entertaining in my opinion, but certainly not bad. If I want repetitive British music I'll listen to your electronica. I was in London for one day when flying to South Africa and all I heard on the radio was techno or technopop. Nothing else. Heard a lot of electronica in Italy too...

Re: The Nightsweat Zone - The Worst Gig In The World Ever!!! Too true on the electonica front, Iceni! Talking of electronica, did anyone see this shameful cover Slipknot did of Barbie Girl ;) . I know most of you dislike Slipknot so I hope you like it! B3hRgx02jh0 P.S. I hate Leona for her piercing, sharp voice and whole, "oh, slit my wrists, I'm a victim and love it way". She even tried to enforce vegetarianism on her road crew. Really, roadies vegetarian! I thought that they went out hunting with bow and arrows after a gig!

Re: The Nightsweat Zone - The Worst Gig In The World Ever!!!

lol' date=' wait that is a BRILLIANT idea, when I get my band going if it's successful enough to have roadies I'll force them to go hunting for the entire crew + band's dinners...because there's nothing more metal then killing bambi lol[/quote'] Aye, and you can sell the pelts to a folk metal band to wear at their gigs. I remember going to a Speech and Debate party at Nationals last year where they had some of the suckiest and loudest (isn't it a shame how those always go together? If you can't compose it right, just play it louder, people will eventually like it. UGGGHHH) techno playing. As I looked out upon the vast herd of hormonal humanity dancing to this tripe, I remember wanting desperately to put on some death metal so loud that it would crumble the walls.

Re: The Nightsweat Zone - The Worst Gig In The World Ever!!! So, not much of an industrial fan, I imagine? Still, I prefer good instrumental techno to electronica or, heaven forbid, dubstep. When I first heard dubstep I thought it was the tech-death version of techno, but it seems to be more like the deathcore version of techno. Except that this time, the song is just one long breakdown.

Re: The Nightsweat Zone - The Worst Gig In The World Ever!!! Actually heard Eisbrecher's latest work and it's better than Eiszeit, thank goodness. Still, about half of it is pretty mild gothic electronica.

    • Whichever tier of thrash metal you consigned Sacred Reich back in the 80's/90's they still had their moments.  "Ignorance" & "Surf Nicaragura" did a great job of establishing the band, whereas "The American Way" just got a little to comfortable and accessible (the title track grates nowadays) for my ears.  A couple more records better left forgotten about and then nothing for twenty three years.  2019 alone has now seen three releases from Phil Rind and co.  A live EP, a split EP with Iron Reagan and now a full length.

Notable addition to the ranks for the current throng of releases is former Machine Head sticksman, Dave McClean.  Love or hate Machine Head, McClean is a more than capable drummer and his presence here is felt from the off with the opening and title track kicking things off with some real gusto.  'Divide & Conquer' and 'Salvation' muddle along nicely, never quite reaching any quality that would make my balls tingle but comfortable enough.  The looming build to 'Manifest Reality' delivers a real punch when the song starts proper.  Frenzied riffs and drums with shots of lead work to hold the interest.

There's a problem already though (I know, I am such a fucking mood hoover).  I don't like Phil's vocals.  I never had if I am being honest.  The aggression to them seems a little forced even when they are at their best on tracks like 'Manifest Reality'.  When he tries to sing it just feels weak though ('Salvation') and tracks lose real punch.  Give him a riffy number such as 'Killing Machine' and he is fine with the Reich engine (probably a poor choice of phrase) up in sixth gear.  For every thrashy riff there's a fair share of rock edged, local bar act rhythm aplenty too.

Let's not poo-poo proceedings though, because overall I actually enjoy "Awakening".  It is stacked full of catchy riffs that are sticky on the old ears.  Whilst not as raw as perhaps the - brilliant - artwork suggests with its black and white, tattoo flash sheet style design it is enjoyable enough.  Yes, 'Death Valley' & 'Something to Believe' have no place here, saved only by Arnett and Radziwill's lead work but 'Revolution' is a fucking 80's thrash heyday throwback to the extent that if you turn the TV on during it you might catch a new episode of Cheers!

    • Full length number 19 from overkill certainly makes a splash in the energy stakes, I mean there's some modern thrash bands that are a good two decades younger than Overkill who can only hope to achieve the levels of spunk that New Jersey's finest produce here.  That in itself is an achievement, for a band of Overkill's stature and reputation to be able to still sound relevant four decades into their career is no mean feat.  Even in the albums weaker moments it never gets redundant and the energy levels remain high.  There's a real sense of a band in a state of some renewed vigour, helped in no small part by the addition of Jason Bittner on drums.  The former Flotsam & Jetsam skinsman is nothing short of superb throughout "The Wings of War" and seems to have squeezed a little extra out of the rest of his peers.

The album kicks of with a great build to opening track "Last Man Standing" and for the first 4 tracks of the album the Overkill crew stomp, bash and groove their way to a solid level of consistency.  The lead work is of particular note and Blitz sounds as sneery and scathing as ever.  The album is well produced and mixed too with all parts of the thrash machine audible as the five piece hammer away at your skull with the usual blend of chugging riffs and infectious anthems.

There are weak moments as mentioned but they are more a victim of how good the strong tracks are.  In it's own right "Distortion" is a solid enough - if not slightly varied a journey from the last offering - but it just doesn't stand up well against a "Bat Shit Crazy" or a "Head of a Pin".  As the album draws to a close you get the increasing impression that the last few tracks are rescued really by some great solos and stomping skin work which is a shame because trimming of a couple of tracks may have made this less obvious.
