Iceni
Re: great albums I've always loved HammerFall's Renegade album. Fall From Grace by Borealis is good too. Thy Majestie's Jeanne D'Arc is awesome as well. My favorite power metal album is really a prog/power album. Chapter II: The Aftermath by Harmony is absolutely fantastic - the mood, power and technicality are all there. Not a very well-known band, but they definitely deserve more recognition.

BlutAusNerd
Re: great albums If I can get to a computer, I'll compile a list with some YouTube links for you. I'm no power metal expert, as I just like the older, heavier stuff, but I think you should always check out the origins to have a frame of reference for where the sounds went.
RelentlessOblivion
Re: great albums good idea, I like to do that with bands, for example I have all the Megadeth albums and their sound has changed a lot since Killing Is My Business, Slayer have changed a lot since Show No Mercy, still trying to track down the first two Maiden albums but their sound with Bruce changed a lot between albums

RelentlessOblivion
Re: great albums ok Thy Majestie aren't on Itunes so I skipped over to Harmony, from what I've heard so far the album will be awesome, their singer is really bloody good
RelentlessOblivion
Re: great albums after hearing Hamony - Chapter II: Aftermath Iceni I agree if they aren't getting cred they should be, their singer has a great voice, their guitar playing is awesome and their lyrics are pretty good too
Barbie1989
Re: great albums I'd put in a mention for Helloween, especially Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt.1, might not be the best album but is one of my favourites and was one of the first power metal albums I listened to!
Iceni
Re: great albums after hearing Hamony - Chapter II: Aftermath Iceni I agree if they aren't getting cred they should be' date=' their singer has a great voice, their guitar playing is awesome and their lyrics are pretty good too[/quote'] And that's why they're my favorite band! Couldn't have asked for a nicer recommendation, thanks! In the meantime, Futures End has an album Memoirs Of A Broken Man. This is essential for anyone who likes powerful, groovy and technical guitars. Absolutely GREAT stuff, just listened to it today. It has a traditional power metal touch to it, but it's extremely good.

BlutAusNerd
Re: great albums I wouldn't say " that's it", but you hit the nail on the head with some of those, even picking my favorite Blind Guardian album. One of these days I'll come back to doing the list I promised too...
RelentlessOblivion
Re: great albums in the meantime I've got plenty to keep me busy I've added the Excalion, Rob Rock and Serenity albums to my collection, more solid suggestions thanks Iceni, and returntocarthage I already have Burnt Offerings and it is a great album but by no means the only good Iced Earth album
RelentlessOblivion
Re: great albums ok couldn't find the Jag Panzer or Galloglass albums on Itunes, not too keen on Sabaton's vocalist, could only get one of the Divinefire albums, it's pretty good and the Helloween album is good, still a lot more power metal to get through though
Iceni
Re: great albums Which Divinefire album? I bought Hero and I liked it a lot.

Iceni
Re: great albums Then you're probably off to a good start. Into A New Dimension is probably their harshest album. I love 'Facing The Liar'. Farewell is probably their weakest album though, so do some research before deciding whether to get that one. 'Eye Of The Storm' is an improvement: it has got some really strong moments. Still though, I'm most pleased with Hero. ...dang, now I really want to listen to 'Facing The Liar'.

RelentlessOblivion
Re: great albums that whole album rules, it's instantly become one of my favourites bought Omen - Battle Cry, it's good but I've heard better
