This konmari quote in particular cracked me up: "Clothes, like people, can relax more freely when in the company of others who are very similar in type, and therefore organising them by category helps them feel more comfortable and secure," she wrote.

Thanks guys! What can I say, I'm really psyched, I hope it all works out. This konmari quote in particular cracked me up: "Clothes, like people, can relax more freely when in the company of others who are very similar in type, and therefore organising them by category helps them feel more comfortable and secure," she wrote. Leaving aside the cultural ramifications, if this statement is true, I have at the very least half a closet and several bags worth of things that hate me and want me dead. :D
You should sort that shit out, thank it for keeping you dressed for so long and then send it on it's way, because left ill categorized they will become quite irritable, and your clothes are not above strangling you in your sleep if they get fully fed up.

You should sort that shit out' date=' thank it for keeping you dressed for so long and then send it on it's way, because left ill categorized they will become quite irritable, and your clothes are not above strangling you in your sleep if they get fully fed up.[/quote'] Sadly, my empirical observations to date contradict this claim. I say "sadly" because it would be awesome to have a reason and the money to get some new clothes. I'm happy the clothes apparently can't feel what I've put them through. If it wasn't for my habit of forming sentimental attachments to things and then never throwing them out, I would have no usable art supplies, no extra music gear, and very few articles of clothing. It's like albums to me: I may not want anything to do with them now, but in another five years, who knows?

So what are the non singles doing for Valentine's day?? Was asked by my coworker today to go see 50 shades of grey with her.............................
We usually end up dog sitting for our best customer, which is the case again this year. When we do, the Mrs and I usually have a sushi picnic at home with the dogs and baby. It always ends up being a good time, and making some extra cash for doing something so simple as having two extra dogs at home for a few days is always nice.

I'll stop trying to sell you on decluttering, it's just I'm very ready for it myself. I went through my albums today. I had a what amounted to a dozen boxes one and a half cubic feet a peace, so each one has something like one hundred records in it. About a third were my grandmothers classical albums, which I kept a several of. I had records belonging to a friend of my parents that he gave me when he was done with keeping records, they included most of the best jazz records I own and about six inches of German beer hall and yodeling and marching music. Lot of eighties crap and some not so crappy eighties stuff. I'm keeping about half of the records, as opposed to clothes, books, and papers that I got rig of about 80 percent of.

I'm seriously thinking about suicide.
Thanks for checking in Parker, I've been wondering about you. We really need to set up a suicide watch thread. Where is BlackFuckingMetal666 for example, he could be dead and gone and who here would know? I'm up for a conversation about what people are worth to us here, in this place where we don't see each other, or know each other in the traditional senses of the word. Clearly folks come and go as time and interest allow, and that is fine and normal, but I like to know when someone I've been in touch with has died. Anyway Parker, as far as you are concerned, suicide is not appropriate for you, for one thing you have a diagnosed mood disorder, and for another I really like having you here and look forward to meeting you this summer in Rockland (even if I need to endure some blues to do so), and we should get together and share a hookah before death. I feel pretty strongly about that. I'm glad for you that you can tell us you're considering suicide in the relative anonymity of this forum, but I hope also that you have people close to you in your life that can help you as well. People really do vanish from the earth by taking their own lives and ultimately I believe it is a persons right to do so, but it needs to be taken seriously, both by you, and by those who hear your intention. Not that you've stated an intention to kill your self, but still I want to properly say I've heard you. I don't want to belittle your reasons for committing suicide, just point out what you already know, that they are not sufficient. The superficiality of them alone shows it's your mood disorder talking, as you no doubt well understand. Stay in touch and be kind to yourself, please.

Been there many a time my friend. It's a very dark place indeed. I'm not going to condemn or encourage self harm. All I will say on the matter is that you should seriously weigh up all the positives and negatives in your life before taking such drastic action.

    • Whichever tier of thrash metal you consigned Sacred Reich back in the 80's/90's they still had their moments.  "Ignorance" & "Surf Nicaragura" did a great job of establishing the band, whereas "The American Way" just got a little to comfortable and accessible (the title track grates nowadays) for my ears.  A couple more records better left forgotten about and then nothing for twenty three years.  2019 alone has now seen three releases from Phil Rind and co.  A live EP, a split EP with Iron Reagan and now a full length.

Notable addition to the ranks for the current throng of releases is former Machine Head sticksman, Dave McClean.  Love or hate Machine Head, McClean is a more than capable drummer and his presence here is felt from the off with the opening and title track kicking things off with some real gusto.  'Divide & Conquer' and 'Salvation' muddle along nicely, never quite reaching any quality that would make my balls tingle but comfortable enough.  The looming build to 'Manifest Reality' delivers a real punch when the song starts proper.  Frenzied riffs and drums with shots of lead work to hold the interest.

There's a problem already though (I know, I am such a fucking mood hoover).  I don't like Phil's vocals.  I never had if I am being honest.  The aggression to them seems a little forced even when they are at their best on tracks like 'Manifest Reality'.  When he tries to sing it just feels weak though ('Salvation') and tracks lose real punch.  Give him a riffy number such as 'Killing Machine' and he is fine with the Reich engine (probably a poor choice of phrase) up in sixth gear.  For every thrashy riff there's a fair share of rock edged, local bar act rhythm aplenty too.

Let's not poo-poo proceedings though, because overall I actually enjoy "Awakening".  It is stacked full of catchy riffs that are sticky on the old ears.  Whilst not as raw as perhaps the - brilliant - artwork suggests with its black and white, tattoo flash sheet style design it is enjoyable enough.  Yes, 'Death Valley' & 'Something to Believe' have no place here, saved only by Arnett and Radziwill's lead work but 'Revolution' is a fucking 80's thrash heyday throwback to the extent that if you turn the TV on during it you might catch a new episode of Cheers!

    • Full length number 19 from overkill certainly makes a splash in the energy stakes, I mean there's some modern thrash bands that are a good two decades younger than Overkill who can only hope to achieve the levels of spunk that New Jersey's finest produce here.  That in itself is an achievement, for a band of Overkill's stature and reputation to be able to still sound relevant four decades into their career is no mean feat.  Even in the albums weaker moments it never gets redundant and the energy levels remain high.  There's a real sense of a band in a state of some renewed vigour, helped in no small part by the addition of Jason Bittner on drums.  The former Flotsam & Jetsam skinsman is nothing short of superb throughout "The Wings of War" and seems to have squeezed a little extra out of the rest of his peers.

The album kicks of with a great build to opening track "Last Man Standing" and for the first 4 tracks of the album the Overkill crew stomp, bash and groove their way to a solid level of consistency.  The lead work is of particular note and Blitz sounds as sneery and scathing as ever.  The album is well produced and mixed too with all parts of the thrash machine audible as the five piece hammer away at your skull with the usual blend of chugging riffs and infectious anthems.

There are weak moments as mentioned but they are more a victim of how good the strong tracks are.  In it's own right "Distortion" is a solid enough - if not slightly varied a journey from the last offering - but it just doesn't stand up well against a "Bat Shit Crazy" or a "Head of a Pin".  As the album draws to a close you get the increasing impression that the last few tracks are rescued really by some great solos and stomping skin work which is a shame because trimming of a couple of tracks may have made this less obvious.
