What's on your mind?

Fuck' date=' that really sucks. Hope you or the police will find him.[/quote'] Well I may be able to get the money back through my bank but since the funds went to Rome, Milan and Athens it's unlikely the culprit will be caught. If I am fortunate enough to locate this insect however I shall take extreme pleasure in breaking every bone in their body one by one.

On my mind? thoughts of finding' date=' torturing and killing the parasite/s who somehow got hold of my bank details and siphoned funds from it.[/quote'] I feel for ya. This happened to me couple month ago. My account was taken for $500+ but luckily the bank investigated and concluded that it was fraud so I got my money back. Now I have become more diligent (or obsessive) with checking my account several times a day. Hope it all works out and your money is recovered.

I'm out $1000 because of thise/these scumbags. I will be getting the money back from the bank but that's not good enough. The bank should have realised this was happening and put a stop to it weeks ago and it's only because I wondered why the amount of money in my account didn't match up to the amount I spent.

Oh man, that sucks!!! I said exactly the same thing to the bank manager about their neglegance of not taking notice of abnormal activity on my account. I'm pretty much a creature of habit with my spending activity and was puzzled why nothing was flagged when this happened. The fun part was filling out papers for each charge (34 of them) because they were treated as individual cases. The plus side was they were pretty prompt on recovering my money within a couple days.

My bank told me today "We'll investigate it and you should get back the money but there's a chance you won't. Either way you won't know for 45 days" So I won't know whether I get back this money, which has been used to pay for cheap airline tickets in Rome, Milan and Athens incurring hefty international transaction fees until some time next month. It's times like these I wish I had a punching bag.

Next show: fridaynight Cliteater (goregrind) and Korpse (slam death metal). Great bands and really looking forward to see Korpse. Never seen them before. (new band too, they just released their debut album) Saturday night a birthday party of a few friends of mine. It's held in a pub with a 'beer and tits' theme. Must be good.

In my case, someone had purchased Starbucks reloadable gift cards. I even contacted Starbucks headquarters and told them what was going on and apparently mine was not the onlyincidence and that I should be refunded my money. I asked the bank manager if she was going to pursue who committed these frauds, told me its next to impossible to do. It's very unnerving to know that anyone can steal from you and a banks hands are tied from letting it happen.

Had a long, but great day :D Met a good friend in the train on my way to school, school was really short and after that, I had a drink with some other nice people from my class. I seem getting more and more along with some people from class, and that's pretty cool. And last, but not least, we won from the number one in the standings with table tennis :D

Wow, you're a serious competitor, huh?

Wow' date=' you're a serious competitor, huh?[/quote'] Well, serious... Yes, I want to win every match I can, but we don't play that high (4th class; highest one is 'first class' n the form I play). So yeah, my skills are above average and I hope I can still get better, since I'm pretty young. But mostly I play just for fun :)

You play two against two; everyone plays against each other and there is one double :D So in total there are five points to divide :) But I don't play the regular form. The regular form is three against three and one double, so there are ten points to divide. But I like two against two (called "duo competition") more, because the regular form takes really long. And with duo competition, you can have drink afterwards with your opponent and it's more relaxing :)

I think I'll kick back with Kant's Metaphysics and come back when I'm mentally relaxed.

    • Whichever tier of thrash metal you consigned Sacred Reich back in the 80's/90's they still had their moments.  "Ignorance" & "Surf Nicaragura" did a great job of establishing the band, whereas "The American Way" just got a little to comfortable and accessible (the title track grates nowadays) for my ears.  A couple more records better left forgotten about and then nothing for twenty three years.  2019 alone has now seen three releases from Phil Rind and co.  A live EP, a split EP with Iron Reagan and now a full length.

Notable addition to the ranks for the current throng of releases is former Machine Head sticksman, Dave McClean.  Love or hate Machine Head, McClean is a more than capable drummer and his presence here is felt from the off with the opening and title track kicking things off with some real gusto.  'Divide & Conquer' and 'Salvation' muddle along nicely, never quite reaching any quality that would make my balls tingle but comfortable enough.  The looming build to 'Manifest Reality' delivers a real punch when the song starts proper.  Frenzied riffs and drums with shots of lead work to hold the interest.

There's a problem already though (I know, I am such a fucking mood hoover).  I don't like Phil's vocals.  I never had if I am being honest.  The aggression to them seems a little forced even when they are at their best on tracks like 'Manifest Reality'.  When he tries to sing it just feels weak though ('Salvation') and tracks lose real punch.  Give him a riffy number such as 'Killing Machine' and he is fine with the Reich engine (probably a poor choice of phrase) up in sixth gear.  For every thrashy riff there's a fair share of rock edged, local bar act rhythm aplenty too.

Let's not poo-poo proceedings though, because overall I actually enjoy "Awakening".  It is stacked full of catchy riffs that are sticky on the old ears.  Whilst not as raw as perhaps the - brilliant - artwork suggests with its black and white, tattoo flash sheet style design it is enjoyable enough.  Yes, 'Death Valley' & 'Something to Believe' have no place here, saved only by Arnett and Radziwill's lead work but 'Revolution' is a fucking 80's thrash heyday throwback to the extent that if you turn the TV on during it you might catch a new episode of Cheers!

    • Full length number 19 from overkill certainly makes a splash in the energy stakes, I mean there's some modern thrash bands that are a good two decades younger than Overkill who can only hope to achieve the levels of spunk that New Jersey's finest produce here.  That in itself is an achievement, for a band of Overkill's stature and reputation to be able to still sound relevant four decades into their career is no mean feat.  Even in the albums weaker moments it never gets redundant and the energy levels remain high.  There's a real sense of a band in a state of some renewed vigour, helped in no small part by the addition of Jason Bittner on drums.  The former Flotsam & Jetsam skinsman is nothing short of superb throughout "The Wings of War" and seems to have squeezed a little extra out of the rest of his peers.

The album kicks of with a great build to opening track "Last Man Standing" and for the first 4 tracks of the album the Overkill crew stomp, bash and groove their way to a solid level of consistency.  The lead work is of particular note and Blitz sounds as sneery and scathing as ever.  The album is well produced and mixed too with all parts of the thrash machine audible as the five piece hammer away at your skull with the usual blend of chugging riffs and infectious anthems.

There are weak moments as mentioned but they are more a victim of how good the strong tracks are.  In it's own right "Distortion" is a solid enough - if not slightly varied a journey from the last offering - but it just doesn't stand up well against a "Bat Shit Crazy" or a "Head of a Pin".  As the album draws to a close you get the increasing impression that the last few tracks are rescued really by some great solos and stomping skin work which is a shame because trimming of a couple of tracks may have made this less obvious.
