Slipknot ??

Slipknot are too heavy and satanic for me. Joey Jordison's drumming really puts me off, and the constant insane riffing just blows my mind on their newest album. Live they are even more crazed their constant movement shocks me, especially when that dildo nosed guy is beating on that tin trash can it is really loud and unsettling. I like safer bands like All that Remains and stuff. I hope you guys Understand! \m/

You'll notice that almost without fail (I am human and do slip)' date=' I typically talk about how I don't like the band or aspects of the band, as opposed to saying that they suck or that they're bad. Those are qualifiers that simply don't exist regarding subjective topics, its appeal is based entirely on how it's perceived, and my perception of them is what I'm commenting on. I could just as easily be offending by you liking Slipknot while I don't, it's just as ludicrous of a statement. Nobody has hurled any insults at you, nor even really at the band, I've even stated that the ones that play instruments are actually good musicians. They're obviously doing something right, as I'm in the minority with my opinion and they sell a shitload of records and merch, but my problem lies with the music. Not only do I not like it, I feel that they receive unfair credit for plagiarizing things that I do like in a cheap way and marketing/representing it as the same thing. They're obviously gifted advertisers and marketers, and another of my problems lies with that being their focus as opposed to their music. Either way, this is all my opinion, and whether you like it or not, it remains unchanged. As DJ Anubis below me said, you just need to grow some thicker skin and realize that nothing is being directed at you, and there's no reason to get pissed off because someone doesn't like something that you do and voices that opinion.[/quote'] I said there's nothing wrong with having an oppinion, liking or disliking, it's just with the way to express it. And I never said any insulted me. I spoke in chinese without noticing it, or you haven't read anything I said.

That's a very good post man - I have much the same philosophy. I think any music should be compatible with each other. At the same time though' date=' this is a forum for discussion so differences in opinion are inevitable which is why I joined in the first place. I like to hear why people disagree (or agree) and so I can try understand things from their perspective too. I love the debate and discussion (not mindless hate, but well thought out opinions based on solid reasoning).[/quote'] I also love knowing different opinions, but not reading insults like "those mothafuckas gotta die because they're shit". Maybe I expressed myself wrong, but the only thing I dislike of haters is their way to express the hate. I don't care if people hate Slipknot. It's okei! I won't hate anybody for hating a band... I mean, I have my opinion, people have theirs. We can share and all of that. But I don't like insults. I'm a person who appreciates respect. If I think someone is an asshole, I won't go to somewhere to say he's an asshole. I can say I don't like him because of blah blah, but not with insults. Have I expressed myself right now?

I don't mind when people say they don't like a band because "xxxxx" but when there are no reasons provided it's annoying.

As per the usual evaluation' date=' their drummer is good but everyone else is terrible.[/quote'] From what i heard from you, i agree the part when the drummer from Slipknot is good but other members from Slipknot are terrible or rubbish. Slipknot wanted to entertain because of their uniforms or costumes for the Band and also mask but when you listen to their songs.. It sounds like crap and aggressively terrible, that's the one i'm having complaint about! The only question that its so weird and kinda stupid but... Why does slipknot have 8 or 9 members on their band? I mean.. My reaction when i read this question.. I facepalm that time! WHY DOES SLIPKNOT HAVE 8 OR 8 MEMBERS ON THEIR BAND?! That's just crazy and i'm serious.. I'm not joking! -Feidz

Yeah, the two percussionists (Pinoccio and the clown) have a small part in some songs and nobody knows what pinhead have been doing the whole time. Anyone likes Mate Feed Kill Repeat? I like the songs Gently and Confessions very much on that album.
Two percussionists are DickFace/Pinoccio and the "Clown" did some small parts and professional rhythm of the songs like Psychosocial and People = Sh*t... That's the one i agree about! Like you Woutjinho, same with me, i don't know what was pinhead was doing during Performance Live Stage.. It's so weird to find him with Slipknot and he's not that evolved with the band.. Strange! Never heard of Mate Feed Kill Repeat?! I'll listen to the albums anyway what you wanted us to listen to: "Gentry" "Confessions"! -Feidz

I used to like these guys when I was about 9 up to about age 13/14. I can still enjoy some songs as nostalgia/guilty pleasure but they aren't a band I'd call 'good'. One thing that always stood out to me was how many members they had, and how many seemed useless. For having so many members they sure didn't sound like it.

    • Whichever tier of thrash metal you consigned Sacred Reich back in the 80's/90's they still had their moments.  "Ignorance" & "Surf Nicaragura" did a great job of establishing the band, whereas "The American Way" just got a little to comfortable and accessible (the title track grates nowadays) for my ears.  A couple more records better left forgotten about and then nothing for twenty three years.  2019 alone has now seen three releases from Phil Rind and co.  A live EP, a split EP with Iron Reagan and now a full length.

Notable addition to the ranks for the current throng of releases is former Machine Head sticksman, Dave McClean.  Love or hate Machine Head, McClean is a more than capable drummer and his presence here is felt from the off with the opening and title track kicking things off with some real gusto.  'Divide & Conquer' and 'Salvation' muddle along nicely, never quite reaching any quality that would make my balls tingle but comfortable enough.  The looming build to 'Manifest Reality' delivers a real punch when the song starts proper.  Frenzied riffs and drums with shots of lead work to hold the interest.

There's a problem already though (I know, I am such a fucking mood hoover).  I don't like Phil's vocals.  I never had if I am being honest.  The aggression to them seems a little forced even when they are at their best on tracks like 'Manifest Reality'.  When he tries to sing it just feels weak though ('Salvation') and tracks lose real punch.  Give him a riffy number such as 'Killing Machine' and he is fine with the Reich engine (probably a poor choice of phrase) up in sixth gear.  For every thrashy riff there's a fair share of rock edged, local bar act rhythm aplenty too.

Let's not poo-poo proceedings though, because overall I actually enjoy "Awakening".  It is stacked full of catchy riffs that are sticky on the old ears.  Whilst not as raw as perhaps the - brilliant - artwork suggests with its black and white, tattoo flash sheet style design it is enjoyable enough.  Yes, 'Death Valley' & 'Something to Believe' have no place here, saved only by Arnett and Radziwill's lead work but 'Revolution' is a fucking 80's thrash heyday throwback to the extent that if you turn the TV on during it you might catch a new episode of Cheers!

    • Full length number 19 from overkill certainly makes a splash in the energy stakes, I mean there's some modern thrash bands that are a good two decades younger than Overkill who can only hope to achieve the levels of spunk that New Jersey's finest produce here.  That in itself is an achievement, for a band of Overkill's stature and reputation to be able to still sound relevant four decades into their career is no mean feat.  Even in the albums weaker moments it never gets redundant and the energy levels remain high.  There's a real sense of a band in a state of some renewed vigour, helped in no small part by the addition of Jason Bittner on drums.  The former Flotsam & Jetsam skinsman is nothing short of superb throughout "The Wings of War" and seems to have squeezed a little extra out of the rest of his peers.

The album kicks of with a great build to opening track "Last Man Standing" and for the first 4 tracks of the album the Overkill crew stomp, bash and groove their way to a solid level of consistency.  The lead work is of particular note and Blitz sounds as sneery and scathing as ever.  The album is well produced and mixed too with all parts of the thrash machine audible as the five piece hammer away at your skull with the usual blend of chugging riffs and infectious anthems.

There are weak moments as mentioned but they are more a victim of how good the strong tracks are.  In it's own right "Distortion" is a solid enough - if not slightly varied a journey from the last offering - but it just doesn't stand up well against a "Bat Shit Crazy" or a "Head of a Pin".  As the album draws to a close you get the increasing impression that the last few tracks are rescued really by some great solos and stomping skin work which is a shame because trimming of a couple of tracks may have made this less obvious.
