I had a Burmese python long ago. It got to be 8' long. It ate one of my mothers cats. I'm lucky that I'm not in prison for manslaughter or some such, as there were three different kids in danger of being killed by this snake at one point or another, including two who let it out once while they were unsupervised. It was the singularly most irresponsible thing I ever did having that snake around. It's not enough to have such a creature in a strong cage, it also needs to be locked. It bit me on the hand once and got a couple of coils around my arm and I simply could not get it off. I held it under water in the bath for a long time before it would let go. It was incredibly beautiful and had the most intense balance while climbing, but not a good pet, just too dangerous.

I certainly wouldn't go for a venomous snake' date=' much too dangerous, a green tree python or carpet python though I could see myself owning once I've got my own place.[/quote'] green tree's are beautiful but nasty fuckers typically. Almost always extremely nippy and have a tendency to shit on you when they're uncomfortable. I did have a friend who was able to tame one down to a baby disposition though so its all in your methods I suppose, I've had enough snakes in my time to confidently say every single one is different, with their own personality and tendencies, though there is a typicality to different types. Gorbo thats unfortunate that that's how the situation turned out. The super sizers are definately a great undertaking and require the utmost respect and commitment. I was VERY fortunate to not have a similar situation arise when one of my redtails, a 6-and-some-change foot female at the time, got out in my mother's house, home to two small chihuahuas. Luckily she never left my room, I shit you not I woke up from a drunken stupor, after drinking my self into a depressed oblivion from not being able to sleep, with her curled up at the foot of my bed (not as unusual as it sounds seeing that i would sit there with her for hours on end playing video games and whatnot). I could throw the old hard drive on and post some pics of my old lovelies if anyone is interested in seeing.

I like snakes a lot, I think some of.them are kinda cute and some of them have beautiful colours on their skin :P I really want a dog, not sure what type though, I like all dogs though really, (not fond of Chihuahuas and Poodles though tbh.)

that shit makes me sick to my fucking stomach. every generation has had a breed of dog that was demonized by society but since we live in the media age it's become sensationalized and pits get it worse than the dobermans and rottweilers did. its really ironic too since pits (staffordshire bull terriers if we're splitting hairs here) were once considered THE american family dog' date=' not to mention have an extensive history in the american military as aid dogs.[/quote'] That pisses me off too

Tbh, if I ever get a snake of my own, it will probably be one of the "smaller" constrictor species, such as a sand boa or ball python. I would never have a venomous snake in my own home, every single one I've worked with has been a nasty bit of work, particularly the mangrove snake... ugh, I hate that one. However, bush vipers are some of the most stunning creatures I've ever come across.

I love snakes' date=' I've always gotten on really well with them when I'm allowed to handle them. I wish I could own one. I've always wanted to. Marrying into a three cat family and then adopting another stray pretty much sealed off that avenue for the time being.[/quote'] Dude, garter snakes.

I HATE SPIDERS SO MUCH!!! There's at least one snake very close to where I live. I sometimes see the shed skin when on my walk. I imagine it's probably a King Brown or Red Bellied Black snake which means its one not to be fucked with.
I gathered that from the last time I posted spider pics. I'll spare you the nightmares this time. I hate them too!!!

My gf and i just got a new dog. A long-haired dachshund, her name is Abby (old owners named her). Her hair around the ears is all dredded and her toenails look like they were never clipped. It makes me so mad when people don't take care of their pets! Anyway, she's a great addition to the family and our other dachshund (sort-haired) actually seems to like her. It's surprising because he is a grouchy old bastard when it comes to meeting new people or other dogs. We also recently got a bird, a green-cheeked conure named Reggie. He poops a LOT. It's funny to hear him try to imitate what we're saying or just matching the cadence of laughter! Our current roommate also has a hedgehog. Our house is full of cute critters! Anyway, snakes are cool and i would be down to take care of one someday. I've had various rodents and even a pet scorpion, all of which were very hard to lose. Maybe I'll post pictures when i finally get my computer fixed.

    • Whichever tier of thrash metal you consigned Sacred Reich back in the 80's/90's they still had their moments.  "Ignorance" & "Surf Nicaragura" did a great job of establishing the band, whereas "The American Way" just got a little to comfortable and accessible (the title track grates nowadays) for my ears.  A couple more records better left forgotten about and then nothing for twenty three years.  2019 alone has now seen three releases from Phil Rind and co.  A live EP, a split EP with Iron Reagan and now a full length.

Notable addition to the ranks for the current throng of releases is former Machine Head sticksman, Dave McClean.  Love or hate Machine Head, McClean is a more than capable drummer and his presence here is felt from the off with the opening and title track kicking things off with some real gusto.  'Divide & Conquer' and 'Salvation' muddle along nicely, never quite reaching any quality that would make my balls tingle but comfortable enough.  The looming build to 'Manifest Reality' delivers a real punch when the song starts proper.  Frenzied riffs and drums with shots of lead work to hold the interest.

There's a problem already though (I know, I am such a fucking mood hoover).  I don't like Phil's vocals.  I never had if I am being honest.  The aggression to them seems a little forced even when they are at their best on tracks like 'Manifest Reality'.  When he tries to sing it just feels weak though ('Salvation') and tracks lose real punch.  Give him a riffy number such as 'Killing Machine' and he is fine with the Reich engine (probably a poor choice of phrase) up in sixth gear.  For every thrashy riff there's a fair share of rock edged, local bar act rhythm aplenty too.

Let's not poo-poo proceedings though, because overall I actually enjoy "Awakening".  It is stacked full of catchy riffs that are sticky on the old ears.  Whilst not as raw as perhaps the - brilliant - artwork suggests with its black and white, tattoo flash sheet style design it is enjoyable enough.  Yes, 'Death Valley' & 'Something to Believe' have no place here, saved only by Arnett and Radziwill's lead work but 'Revolution' is a fucking 80's thrash heyday throwback to the extent that if you turn the TV on during it you might catch a new episode of Cheers!

    • Full length number 19 from overkill certainly makes a splash in the energy stakes, I mean there's some modern thrash bands that are a good two decades younger than Overkill who can only hope to achieve the levels of spunk that New Jersey's finest produce here.  That in itself is an achievement, for a band of Overkill's stature and reputation to be able to still sound relevant four decades into their career is no mean feat.  Even in the albums weaker moments it never gets redundant and the energy levels remain high.  There's a real sense of a band in a state of some renewed vigour, helped in no small part by the addition of Jason Bittner on drums.  The former Flotsam & Jetsam skinsman is nothing short of superb throughout "The Wings of War" and seems to have squeezed a little extra out of the rest of his peers.

The album kicks of with a great build to opening track "Last Man Standing" and for the first 4 tracks of the album the Overkill crew stomp, bash and groove their way to a solid level of consistency.  The lead work is of particular note and Blitz sounds as sneery and scathing as ever.  The album is well produced and mixed too with all parts of the thrash machine audible as the five piece hammer away at your skull with the usual blend of chugging riffs and infectious anthems.

There are weak moments as mentioned but they are more a victim of how good the strong tracks are.  In it's own right "Distortion" is a solid enough - if not slightly varied a journey from the last offering - but it just doesn't stand up well against a "Bat Shit Crazy" or a "Head of a Pin".  As the album draws to a close you get the increasing impression that the last few tracks are rescued really by some great solos and stomping skin work which is a shame because trimming of a couple of tracks may have made this less obvious.
