i am way way way back anyone rememeber toejam and earl from sega gensis
That was one of the coolest games I ever played. The tunes from that game are stuck in my head forever! I think there is a version of it online that you can play now. Pretty much exactly the same as it was back then. I didn't think anyone else had ever heard of it! LOL

now Iced you know if you had a faster car this wouldn't be an issue :D
That is true, however I was in a race where every car had to be the same. Just a restriction. You probably already know of my long-suffering attempt that finally resulted in me acquiring a Shelby Series 1 in Forza Motorsport. It was PAIN.

Just completed GoW3 on XBOX 360 and was impressed at the content but thought it was all getting a bit old and samey after three games. It is still an enjoyable romp as it always was but I had no time to jump on LIVE with it as I had it from LoveFilm as part of our (soon to expire) free trial. Also played the Arkham City Batman game and thought it was great. I had feared it would be too much like the previous one but I was surprised at it's longevity and depth. The boss fights were a little familiar after a couple but the puzzles were strong enough and the ability to explore freely the map was welcome. Incidentally, bored as I was earlier I downloaded a demo of Injustice:Gods Amongst Us which is the new DC Comics beat em up. For all it's promise of mulit-tiered arenas and in depth character studies it was very much a plain old beat em up to my eyes but then again it was only a demo. I spend too little time on my XBOX nowadays - I still find myself going on for a blast of GTA4 regularly and am very much looking forward to the new one later this year.

Borrowed Halo 4 and it sucked. Plus you have to have a gold account to access half the features. What a joke. The story wasn't bad but the new enemies were just lame. I also borrowed The Force Unleashed II and it was ok. It was better than the first for a lot of reasons, but the story, in prime Lucas Arts fashion, was completely stupid and the voice acting was over the top. They set themselves up for a third installment but considering that Disney shut down Lucas Arts a month ago it's probably dead in the water.

but the story' date=' in prime Lucas Arts fashion, was completely stupid and the voice acting was over the top.[/quote'] I don't even like the story from the first Star Wars movies, it's pretty cliched and stupid. Thankfully, because I expect that it leaves me free to enjoy the cool special effects. A little bit like an intergalactic version of the Fast and the Furious movies. Speaking of Fast and the Furious, there was a Podracing game that was actually really fun.

It was alright. I had it for a few years after I got my N64. Kind of frustrating as I could never beat it.

I suspect you're thinking of the wrong podracing game. I played Racer Revenge for the Playstation 2 and it was very fun - more or less what you'd really want out of a podracing game. The basic idea was that you could either drive or fight your way to the top. Speaking of which, has anyone ever played Need For Madness? That game series is amazing.

    • Whichever tier of thrash metal you consigned Sacred Reich back in the 80's/90's they still had their moments.  "Ignorance" & "Surf Nicaragura" did a great job of establishing the band, whereas "The American Way" just got a little to comfortable and accessible (the title track grates nowadays) for my ears.  A couple more records better left forgotten about and then nothing for twenty three years.  2019 alone has now seen three releases from Phil Rind and co.  A live EP, a split EP with Iron Reagan and now a full length.

Notable addition to the ranks for the current throng of releases is former Machine Head sticksman, Dave McClean.  Love or hate Machine Head, McClean is a more than capable drummer and his presence here is felt from the off with the opening and title track kicking things off with some real gusto.  'Divide & Conquer' and 'Salvation' muddle along nicely, never quite reaching any quality that would make my balls tingle but comfortable enough.  The looming build to 'Manifest Reality' delivers a real punch when the song starts proper.  Frenzied riffs and drums with shots of lead work to hold the interest.

There's a problem already though (I know, I am such a fucking mood hoover).  I don't like Phil's vocals.  I never had if I am being honest.  The aggression to them seems a little forced even when they are at their best on tracks like 'Manifest Reality'.  When he tries to sing it just feels weak though ('Salvation') and tracks lose real punch.  Give him a riffy number such as 'Killing Machine' and he is fine with the Reich engine (probably a poor choice of phrase) up in sixth gear.  For every thrashy riff there's a fair share of rock edged, local bar act rhythm aplenty too.

Let's not poo-poo proceedings though, because overall I actually enjoy "Awakening".  It is stacked full of catchy riffs that are sticky on the old ears.  Whilst not as raw as perhaps the - brilliant - artwork suggests with its black and white, tattoo flash sheet style design it is enjoyable enough.  Yes, 'Death Valley' & 'Something to Believe' have no place here, saved only by Arnett and Radziwill's lead work but 'Revolution' is a fucking 80's thrash heyday throwback to the extent that if you turn the TV on during it you might catch a new episode of Cheers!
