Dead1
Nosce Teipsum - Nothing Remains New EP from one of the few remaining Tassie metal bands. Death Metal with a lot of Death Doom and melodic Death (more ala Cemetary, Tiamat, early Amorphis, than Dark Tranquillity/In Flames) thrown in. https://redtruthproduction.bandcamp.com/album/nosce-teipsum-nothing-remains

Do I remember correctly that you disliked it a while back? I had never gotten around to this one. I battled for months with the sophomore and now rank The Olden Domain as their finest hour. The debut is a different proposition, enough rawness to give some second wave authenticity yet still perfect amounts of melody and epic Viking metal to balance it. The 25th Anniversary edition (all you can get on stream) has the live studio takes minus the vocals and they are really strong too, especially Brun's guitar work.

The debut and Empiricism are my two favorites, although they're vastly different to my ears. Debut was actually the only Borknagar album I enjoyed for a pretty long time. Garm's vocals on that are some of my favorites that he's done, made it really savage in a way the band never was again. Glad you're getting around to it.
