Feeling a bit tipsy.

Several pints at the local (non metal) pub. Storm outside just passed so I guess I should go home to bed. Right after I down this pint.

and it’s bloody freezing outside!

Well oiled right now.

The culprits? Beer and Jack Daniel’s.

The scene of the crime? Melbourne’s never ending metal scene.

The consequences? Drunken metal eternally exclusively.

Hey, I drank 3/4 a bottle of Italian Rose, 3 fruity hard seltzers, and a couple small glasses of rum. I’ e Really been on my game recently so that is not all that much, but a solid buzz non the less. I was at an anniversary party with friends.

Today I was listen8ng to Manila Road and shingling the garage. I also listened to Holloween. Other stuff I don’t remember as well.

I’m getting tipsy.

Rapture and Jack Daniels are merging so it’s hard to tell.

“This liquid enlightenment solves even problems of the deepest kind”. - Rapture. Misery 24/7.

I'm jealous of all this whiskey flowing around so freely. Got a bit of wine on hand, but that needs to last me a good week, and it's only just lunchtime.

No limits for me at weekends. Which is almost certainly very foolish.

How would you open your beers then?

Apparently these humans have specific gadgets for this.  My crooked teeth marks on the necks of young buxom wenches are testimony to how my beer opening tendencies have cramped my style.  Never having even been close to third place in the World Vampire Clean Biter Competition is a real low and the cause of much derision from my undead peers.  Fangy pricks!

Young buxom wenches are the best type of wench.

Hey.

I would not, per say, say that I was drunk, but, givens the drink I done drank, as it were, well tipsy I am to be sure.

That fact not withstanding, I would like to say, from the rum as it were, with the zevia root beer mixer, it was  fun to hang out with friends tonight. I could have drunk a bunch more and still produced coherent posts for the post if you are drunk post lists.

I guess that is about the thing for. Me. I drank a bit, could have drunk aa whole lot more, but as they might say , you drink as might and might get drunk as you do, but for the amount that you manage to drink. Anyway, I’ll sto, short of apology for not being more drunk, I’m drunk enough to post here, and that is that.

Drunk on a Monday and it wasn't even my fault!

It was in this order:

1. Being in the city

2. Black metal

3. Alcohol tastes good and deciding Tuesday will be a home day

4. Getting home and listening to more black metal and drinking more alcohol.

5. Mgla. Forever and ever. Mgla.

@Requiem pretty sure I understood the word 'pint' correctly in the other post you mentioned me now.

I like you.

Edit:

It's evening now and I am drunk and a a little stoned. Feeling the essence a little more. What I mean by that is the will to grow. Going to meditate a little before a nighttime gym session. No one can take the will to grow from you. Hail.

(Getting edgy there)

    • Whichever tier of thrash metal you consigned Sacred Reich back in the 80's/90's they still had their moments.  "Ignorance" & "Surf Nicaragura" did a great job of establishing the band, whereas "The American Way" just got a little to comfortable and accessible (the title track grates nowadays) for my ears.  A couple more records better left forgotten about and then nothing for twenty three years.  2019 alone has now seen three releases from Phil Rind and co.  A live EP, a split EP with Iron Reagan and now a full length.

Notable addition to the ranks for the current throng of releases is former Machine Head sticksman, Dave McClean.  Love or hate Machine Head, McClean is a more than capable drummer and his presence here is felt from the off with the opening and title track kicking things off with some real gusto.  'Divide & Conquer' and 'Salvation' muddle along nicely, never quite reaching any quality that would make my balls tingle but comfortable enough.  The looming build to 'Manifest Reality' delivers a real punch when the song starts proper.  Frenzied riffs and drums with shots of lead work to hold the interest.

There's a problem already though (I know, I am such a fucking mood hoover).  I don't like Phil's vocals.  I never had if I am being honest.  The aggression to them seems a little forced even when they are at their best on tracks like 'Manifest Reality'.  When he tries to sing it just feels weak though ('Salvation') and tracks lose real punch.  Give him a riffy number such as 'Killing Machine' and he is fine with the Reich engine (probably a poor choice of phrase) up in sixth gear.  For every thrashy riff there's a fair share of rock edged, local bar act rhythm aplenty too.

Let's not poo-poo proceedings though, because overall I actually enjoy "Awakening".  It is stacked full of catchy riffs that are sticky on the old ears.  Whilst not as raw as perhaps the - brilliant - artwork suggests with its black and white, tattoo flash sheet style design it is enjoyable enough.  Yes, 'Death Valley' & 'Something to Believe' have no place here, saved only by Arnett and Radziwill's lead work but 'Revolution' is a fucking 80's thrash heyday throwback to the extent that if you turn the TV on during it you might catch a new episode of Cheers!
