I swear, officer, my drunkeness is a complete accident! I thought this was non-alcoholic whiskey.

Ha ha.... And that old "I accidentally put too much whiskey into my drink" routine won't get him too far either....

Exactly. Sounds like something I'd tell Countess Requiem when I'd drunk too much Carpathian Red from 1826.

Well, in my defense... nah, never mind, there's no defense. I haven't had that much whiskey in a long time. Tasted like heaven in a glass, hit me like a brick wall. It probably would have helped if I had any food in my stomach, but I always forget to eat when I'm working on music and art. I'm just happy I don't feel like I have a dead rat in my stomach this morning.

Well done man. Great to get it all recorded eh? When will we hear the fruits of your labour....??

Thanks dude!:) It's a huge relief. This was the major project I had to finish before I could get started on new things. I should be able to get it mastered next month, gotta do artwork, etc, and I'm still holding out for a couple of guest spots from friends. Planning on putting it out mid-Spring. Shoot me a PM if you're interested in hearing some tracks, though!

Well I was going to start contributing again, but I honestly cannot remember a thing about last night. Note to self, do not drink too many orange vks.... the inside of your toilet will be painted neon orange.

Well tonight was a bit of an anti-climax, a mostly sober night ending in me accidentally putting a hole in my bathroom door. Don't suppose anyone knows how to repair a hole in a hollow core door?

Depends. If it's a smooth, painted door and the hole is small, you can stuff something (balled up paper might work) in there to support spackle or a stronger compound like Bondo. Apply it flat with a putty knife and sand it smooth after it dries. Make sure you don't sand through it. If it's stained wood or has some kind of grain, then you may be out of luck, and should start thinking up good excuses for your landlord or looking for a replacement.

Thankfully it's just painted white. I'll just fill it with spackle and paint it with one of those test pot things I think.

Almost two weeks without a drop of alcohol, I think I'm getting the hang of this whole not destroying my liver thing. Probably gonna go out the window this weekend though. Friday club night at the SU, followed by a rock night at the SU (again) on Saturday, followed by a pub/bar crawl in full kit with the reenactment lot on Sunday.

Not that drunk, but getting there. I'm in that "everything's still wonderfully fine" phase where everything's just better with some alcohol level. Probably gonna regret it when I have to wake up tomorrow morning (mostly because I'm pretty sure that I'm going to stay awake longer than I should).

I know this isn't the confessions game, but I'm drunk and this fits in with the thread. I look older than my age so i was able to buy an 18 pack from a gas station by my house without getting carded (I'm 19). Just wanted to get that off my chest.

I’ve reported you to all relevant authorities.

In Australia you can purchase alcohol at 18. Good times!

Me: Yes, I'd like to report someone who has purchased alcohol under-age.

Police: Ok, and what is the name?

Me: Um...Salmonella Pancake.

Hahaha. I'm sure the Dispatcher would hang up.

    • Whichever tier of thrash metal you consigned Sacred Reich back in the 80's/90's they still had their moments.  "Ignorance" & "Surf Nicaragura" did a great job of establishing the band, whereas "The American Way" just got a little to comfortable and accessible (the title track grates nowadays) for my ears.  A couple more records better left forgotten about and then nothing for twenty three years.  2019 alone has now seen three releases from Phil Rind and co.  A live EP, a split EP with Iron Reagan and now a full length.

Notable addition to the ranks for the current throng of releases is former Machine Head sticksman, Dave McClean.  Love or hate Machine Head, McClean is a more than capable drummer and his presence here is felt from the off with the opening and title track kicking things off with some real gusto.  'Divide & Conquer' and 'Salvation' muddle along nicely, never quite reaching any quality that would make my balls tingle but comfortable enough.  The looming build to 'Manifest Reality' delivers a real punch when the song starts proper.  Frenzied riffs and drums with shots of lead work to hold the interest.

There's a problem already though (I know, I am such a fucking mood hoover).  I don't like Phil's vocals.  I never had if I am being honest.  The aggression to them seems a little forced even when they are at their best on tracks like 'Manifest Reality'.  When he tries to sing it just feels weak though ('Salvation') and tracks lose real punch.  Give him a riffy number such as 'Killing Machine' and he is fine with the Reich engine (probably a poor choice of phrase) up in sixth gear.  For every thrashy riff there's a fair share of rock edged, local bar act rhythm aplenty too.

Let's not poo-poo proceedings though, because overall I actually enjoy "Awakening".  It is stacked full of catchy riffs that are sticky on the old ears.  Whilst not as raw as perhaps the - brilliant - artwork suggests with its black and white, tattoo flash sheet style design it is enjoyable enough.  Yes, 'Death Valley' & 'Something to Believe' have no place here, saved only by Arnett and Radziwill's lead work but 'Revolution' is a fucking 80's thrash heyday throwback to the extent that if you turn the TV on during it you might catch a new episode of Cheers!
