Decimation Out Now on all streaming platforms! https://music.apple.com/album/1659286043?i=1659286045 https://www.deezer.com/fi/album/385653977?utm_campaign=website&utm_medium=Email+&utm_source=SendGrid&deferredFl=1 Imperative is a Finnish thrash metal band formed in 2020 at the stinky dungeons of Hiukkavaara, Oulu. Their current lineup consist of guitarists Jimi Kuningas and Verner Janné, bassist Tuomas Turunen and lead vocalist Anssi Väinö. Imperative are set to bring back the pounding guitar riffs of the past along with lightning fast solos, thundering bass licks, pedal to the metal drumming and glass shattering vocals. Their original tone is a mixture of fast paced thrash metal laced with a more modern soundscape, creating a totally unique listening experience to the listener. Imperative has a humble aim to freshen up the music scene by adding a bit of long lost (even though much needed) 80’s in-your-face type of metal madness to the record charts and playlists around the globe. Hey guys, long time no see! I've been moving about for a while so I haven't been on the forums in ages (again). Been working on some music in the meantime, thought I'd share it here. I know there are some old school fans on the board Let me know what you think!

I've been thinking a lot recently about how much more I enjoy the tonal qualities of older albums (specifically guitar) and why modern metal just doesn't have the same feel. The best example I have of this is Metallica. Their first 4 albums have a fucking HUGE, KILLER tone that just fills a room and shakes the Earth. But now listening to Hardwired...it just felt so blah because the tone had no grit to it. This video helps explain what I mean: Does anybody else feel this way? Is it a result of digital recording? Is it a result of using modelling amps and DAWs? I know some bands actually managed to keep the gritty tone, like Testament. Now I know this isn't a problem with like Black Metal etc, as keeping production to a minimum is a key point of the genre's sound... But does anyone else feel this way? Do others prefer modern metal guitar tone?
