  1. A couple of days ago I was at the Motley Crue concert at Wembley. I really only went to see Alice Cooper, and I have to say that the sound was the worst I've ever known at a concert. I couldn't hear the singing at all, and even the in between song patter was inaudible. But you didn't need to be unable to hear properly to know Vince Neal could only manage half of the lyrics. Younger than Alice and he sooo showed them up. Thank god it's their last tour!
  2. I was listening to it today on the drive to work. 'We're gonna Saxonise you, gonna vandalise your soul.'
  3. Who's your fave fictional metal band? For me, it's Cold Steel, accident prone, pirate obsessed, and barely avoiding catastrophe, thanks largely to their manager.
  4. I hear you Asmodeus, or maybe I'd better not lol. These days hangovers are never worth the effort, no matter how good the night was. A sign of getting older I guess. For me, metal is definitely better sober.
  5. I think there's definitely a place for it. AC/DC's lyrics, especially with Bon Scott were definitely tongue in cheek. There ar eplenty of metal bands that don't take themselves 100% seriously, and they're better because of it. I saw Hell supporting Saxon once, and the singer's in between patter was side splitting, and made the difference between me thinking their music was OK, to loving them as a band. Wolf Hoffman is hilarious with his onstage grimaces, but I love them, and they are part of what he is. And who doesn't/didn't like Spinal Tap? (showing my age there). And if I may blow my own trumpet ever so slightly, my second novel Cold Steel on the Rocks about a metal band looking for pirate treasure is most definitely chock full of humour.
  6. Hi MacabreEternal, some would say patience, some would say boring and no life to sit at the laptop for hours on end looking for typos lol. My fave Saxon album, that's a hard one to narrow down. Early stuff, Power and the Glory does it for me, later ones, it's a battle between Dogs of War and Unleash the Beast. Strong Arm and Denim are also brilliant too. I'll be seeing them in January supporting Motorhead, can't wait!
  7. Thanks for the heads up on etiquette guys, I'll make sure I give the correct honorifics.
  8. Thanks for the welcome. Crusader, my first novel, An Angel's Alternative is a hospital drama. I liked writing it, but had a lot more fun writing about metal. So much so that my sequel to Cold Steel on the Rocks will hopefully be published soon. My website
  9. Hello, I'm Rick Brindle. Well, that's my pen name. I'm an indie author and lifelong metal fan. My favourite bands are Dio, Saxon, Sabbath, Ozzy. I've loved metal for as long as I can remember, and my second novel, Cold Steel on the Rocks is all about a metal band. Looking forward to discussing anything and everything about metal here on the forum.
  10. Here's the cover of my second novel, sorry if it infringes the advertising rules, will remove it if so. I like it because it tells a lot about the book, it's not serious, it's all metal, long-haired and in your face!
