  1. I made a post in Looking For A Band, give it a look if you like : http://metalforum.com/looking-band/8264-london-uk-lyricist-looking-form-band.html I haven't previously seen BandMix, but it looks like a lot of musicians on there; I'll give it a proper browse later on
  2. Long time metal fan in London, UK, I want to get more into making it than just listening. I guess I'm novice-level on bass, so I'm looking for folks to practice and jam with at first, and then form a band. I've gradually written quite a few lyrics, but I reckon I'll need more than just me to get something done with them. The closest description I can think of for what I want to do is a "concept band"; I'm not looking for a band that just has a bunch of songs that can be taken separately; all of the lyrics I have written follow a single overall storyline and I intend to continue writing that way. The basic gist is a fantasy/scifi storyline: in the beginning, a population of wolves in pre-history encounters Man for the first time and ends up being persecuted and hunted down. A spirit being finds the wolves and takes pity on them, taking them away to a distant world, away from their destruction. As for styles, that tends to vary depending on what mood I had in mind for each particular song. Some sound in my head like melodeath or folk metal, some like doom, some like the most hate-filled black. Like the idea? Give me a shout or a reply!
  3. I guess my next step might be a post in the Looking For A Band section? It's not an exact match (I'm not actually a band or an "established", so-to-say, musician), but it might get lost in amongst the other posts in General Chat. Would you folks appreciate some more info about the general idea(s) in the lyrics?
  4. I think my favourite styles are, in no particular order: black, death, melodeath, folk, power, doom; things like thrash, traditional, NWOBHM, don't seem to do to for me as much. Aside from particular styles, I go for more melodic/epic-sounding stuff. Band names I'm not so good at, I just like listening to the music but let's see... Sepultura and Moonsorrow I have to list first because they got me into metal in the first place and are my favourite single band, respectively. Apart from those, again in no particular order: Amon Amarth, Blind Guardian, Immortal, Om, Sunn O))), Rammstein, Korpiklaani, Meshuggah, Finntroll, Devin Townsend are pretty up there. I'm posting here because I don't have contacts among musicians, so I haven't had opportunity to practice with others or get a band going so far. I've gradually written quite a few lyrics, but I reckon I'll need more than just me to get something done with them.

I guess I'm novice-level on bass, so I'm looking for folks to practice and jam with at first and, all things going well, I want to get a band going at some point. Not going to post a wall of text with absolutely everything I can think of, so ask away if you want me to clarify something.
