  1. What do you think of this album? I think it's quite easy to get into, which is rare for a black metal album. The guitar work sounds awesome, with vocals to suit and drums on form too. Nothing flashy, no pointless poseur stunts, just wholesome music. Thoughts pls
  2. Gomorrah

    Books?

Varg Vilkerenes of Burzum wrote two, but I think one of them is related to some tabletop game that he made - MYFAROG. The other one is called Religion and Sorcery in Ancient Scandinavia.
  3. I remember listening to that for the first time and thinking HOLY SHIT! That was the first Nile album I listened to and I knew there and then that they were gonna be a good band. As for Black seeds, took me longer to get into that album, but now I love it too.

    Books?

I can't seem to read purely for enjoyment, I feels somewhat guilty and question myself why I am even reading. I do read philosophy books now and again, and also anything that catches my interest from time to time, but more so for gaining knowledge on a particular subject rather that for fun.
  5. I know this thread is old but whatever. I like this one, from Empty Words: Ashes and promises share a bond Through the winds of change, words are blown away When visions that should be are tattooed in your mind The power to let go is sometimes hard to find The answer cannot be found In the writing of others or the words of a trained mind In a precious world of memories We find ourselves confined
  6. The only albums I've really listened to are The Apostasy and Demigod, and both sound like death metal to me.
  7. Dio and Yngwie's cover of Dream on is my favourite. Also has anyone listened to Yngwie's cover of Gimme Gimme Gimme? It made me laugh how he metalled up that song. In fact, he should have just covered the whole Mamma Mia movie and released his own. I'd buy it.
  8. It would be interesting to see what you lot think of this album. It was released after the band made their best few albums and just before their decent into the treacherous pits of blasphemy. Personally, I'd give it a 7 or 8 out of 10, favourite tracks being Refuse/Resist and Territory. What are your thoughts on this album?
  9. What's your favourite Nile album? In Their Darkened Shrines is mine atm, but it will probably change by tomorrow.

    Burzum

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it, but Varg has his own youtube channel. He seems an ok guy, obviously very passionate about music and European culture, but he gives the impression that he may be the kind of person that wants to buy into conspiracy theories - he jumps to these silly conclusions from so called evidence that you would not usually make those kind of connections from. I own most of his albums and think that his music is great. Did anyone watch his interview on when he talks on killing Euronomous? It wasn't very convincing with respect to it being self defence - I stopped him from crawling into the bedroom where there were guns, but actually no guns. And in a separate interview: "Do you have any regrets?" "Yeah, I should have killed the other guy". Tbh it made me laugh, but I have a sick sense of humour.
  11. I like the woodwind instruments. Same reason as I like Ozzy in Black Sabbath, but this time he's an instrument.
  12. I'd say glam rock. I used to get dragged along to this shitty bar with watered-down drinks a few years ago, and they used to play Bon Jovi every night I was there, like a damn cliche. It's a rock band which everybody 'likes', but secretly hates - just like a fat girl at a party.
  13. Blasphemy! He used to have so much presence on stage. Maybe it's because his voice changed, or because he got fat. What the hell is Tom Araya and Cronos doing there? Tom Araya has the presence of the holy spirit in a room full of atheists.
  14. Why is Phil Anselmo not on the list?

    Burzum

If he does, it probably won't be a black metal one. I think he stated in a previous interview he was done making black metal music.

    Nile

Listening to them right now, and I like what I hear. Got Annihilation and At The Gates. Any suggestions for my next purchase?
  17. I'm gonna go with Still Life. Love that song.
  18. Gomorrah

    Death

Symbolic and The Sound of Perseverance are my favourites, the other albums are pretty good too.
  19. I don't like a lot of death metal bands, but I like these: Death Nile Behemoth Morbid Angel Obituary
