I've been reading these forums for a while now and only just started posting, so I think I'd better make an introduction thread. I've really enjoyed this website as a source for discovering new, obscure bands that I wouldn't necessarily have been able to find otherwise. My tastes probably aren't as heavy as most of the members here; I listen mostly to traditional heavy metal, NWoBHM, power metal, and some thrash. I do enjoy good death or black metal if I'm in the right mood, though. Looking forward to getting to know some of you other metalheads, as there seems to be a lack of us where I live here in the desolate midwest of the US.

"Wrath of the Ripper" Grim Reaper

Another good power metal band that I don't see mentioned already is Dark Moor. The Hall of Olden Dreams is an especially good album.

Metal, for me, is a way of distinguishing myself from a culture I don't feel I belong in.

1. Megadeth 2. Slayer 3. Metallica 4. Anthrax Metallica was awesome, but they drop a couple spots because their new stuff is so bad. Sorry Anthrax, I've never really listened to you.
