  1. AMOLAD is my favourite in recent years, but overall I'd probably go for Powerslave or Seventh Son
  2. Borknagar - Urd Never got round to checking this out before, but I'll definitely be checking out more from these guys, absolutely awesome album. The vocals are absolutely incredible as well.
  3. Raventhrone - Malice in Wonderland Haven't listened to this in years, I had forgotten how great it is
  4. Not listened to that for a while, need to give it a spin again sometime
  5. Forefather - Last of the Line (album)
  6. Quite a few of my favourites in there, good choices. I've been a big fan of Porcupine Tree for a long time, hopefully they'll get some new stuff out eventually. Don't be ashamed of the nu-metal stuff either, a lot of us will have been introduced to heavy music through those bands, and some of them aren't that bad... or is that just me
  7. Metal wouldn't be metal without endless debates about subgenres. I think it is good to have though. I'm into a lot of doom metal for example, but death/doom is very different from stoner doom or traditional doom. Yes there's similarities, as there should be since it's all doom. But the differences are big enough to warrant different classifications. If you think metal has too many subgenres you should look at electronic music....
  8. Hi there, thanks for the suggestion, found it on spotify so checking it out now, I like what I hear so far
  9. There's a pretty rough sounding track at soundcloud.com/under-moon-and-star, it will sound better than this on the actual release though.
  10. It is indeed, you're the first to spot that I think
  11. Hey guys, figured I may as well post an introduction. I'm Scott, also known as Cloudy, from Glasgow in Scotland. I like a wide variety of music but my favourite stuff to listen to is generally death/doom metal, epic prog metal or power metal. But I will give most music a try, as a musician I tend to find things I like in most genres. I have my own metal project called Under Moon and Star, which is mainly rooted in death/doom but I try to bring in other influences to keep it fresh. At the moment it's a solo recording project but after I get the album together (which shouldn't be too long) I plan to put together a live band. I'll probably post more about this when there's more to say... I've not really posted on forums for years but as I get older I've been losing track of what good music is out there ( happens to everyone I think) so hopefully I'll find some good stuff on here that I've not heard or overlooked. So yeah... uh... hi everyone!
  12. It's hard to pick just 4, but at the moment I'm listening to... My Dying Bride Ataraxie Anathema Candlemass
