  1. Hahah, well is anyone (anything) really at a metal festival?
  2. When I was at GMM '06 we had sort of lost one of our friends. It was the last day and already way past midnight, so we started wandering about the campsite to look for him. Then at some point, when we were walking on one of the main roads, we noticed these rows of closed beer cans on each side of the road. So, naturally, we were like 'yay free beer!' But we carefully inspected the cans first, as you never know what might have happened to them. And then, as we were about to decide that they seemed fine, we heard someone shouting in the distance: "Yeah, those people already left and left loads of beer! Do you want some?" Next thing I know, they started throwing more beer cans in our direction and it was literally raining beer! Also, at the same festival, I had spent about an hour looking for my tent. And I was sober! I walked up and down the lane I was sure my tent was at like 10 times without finding it. Then, as I was making one desperate, final attempt to find it before giving up completely, I suddenly heard some guys from my group calling my name. I was astounded to find that my tent was covered by a random gazebo tent. It had just been placed around it, so there really was no sign of my tent! So I asked the guys if they knew where it came from, but they had no idea. So I sat down with them and didn't mind it any more. That is, until 4 guys in thongs suddenly came running by, each picking up one leg of the tent and ran off with it! And we were left sitting there like wtf? :/.

I love them. I first saw them in 2006, when they had only just released Spirit. So they played nearly the entire album, plus an 'Only for the weak' cover, which was amazing! And I didn't really mind their change to a more melodeath sound, but I would agree that the last albums aren't as strong as the first two.

  5. I've been to Wacken four years in a row, starting from 2007. It was an amazing experience, especially the first time and I have lots of good memories to think back to. However, I started to really dislike it quite a bit the last time I was there. In my opinion, Wacken is ridiculously crowded. Having the air crushed out of you as you're being sandwiched in between people twice your size multiple times, and losing a boot once in the process of getting out, kind of ruined it for me. Also, I felt the atmosphere had changed and people were fucking about more than before. But I wouldn't know what that's like now. Anyway, I would recommend at least going there once, just for the experience.
  6. Really? Well, I guess Dutch-speaking folk have a good taste in music! But just to be clear, I'm not limited to those genres. Those are just the ones that get me excited most easily right now, I guess. FatherAlabaster, thanks for your recommendations! I'll be sure to check out the ones I don't know yet Deathstorm: I tend to get attached most to the first album I listen to (and makes me fall in love with the band) and in Insomnium's case that would be Across the dark. Also, not sure if you realised, but I'm a girl
  7. Hey there I'm hoping this forum can get me a little more inspired again. Music has always been a big part of my life but it's been a while since I actively searched for new music and stuff. I've been listening to metal for about 10 years now and my favourite bands and genres have slowly changed during that time. I have gone through these phases where I went completely crazy about something until I had enough of it and found something else ^^' There are a couple of bands that seem to have withstood this, such as Insomnium, Alcest, Agalloch, Swallow The Sun, Fen and (old) In Flames. And right now I mostly enjoy listening to melodeath and -core bands, preferably without clean vocals (the likes of Heaven Shall Burn). But I'm open for anything, really, so recommendations are always welcome! So, hopefully I'll get to discover great bands and meet some cool people in the process .
