  1. Is it weird that just a few weeks after this comment he actually was dead
  2. I do like That Metal Show, but I understand your hatred and the claim that they don't talk about "real" metal. We talk a little bit about everything from black to death to thrash to traditional and even a little bit of hard rock Thanks for the advice, I will take it into consideration. I have a few strong followers that I know will sit through the whole thing and that is good enough for me. We definitely want people to watch it and enjoy it, but we also really enjoy doing it so when we have the chance to make a video together we want to fit a lot of stuff in. Our first couple videos were not very well organized and kind of off our cuff so we didn't have in depth explanations for why we liked stuff, but that is something we are definitely going to work on.
  3. My friend and I have started a Metal Discussion show on YouTube called Metal Thrashing Mad, if you're a fan of thrash, black, death, power, or traditional heavy metal or even a little classic rock, check out our video(s). We talk about news in the metal community, underground bands we think more people should hear, we also discuss bands that everyone knows, and we create lists. We have one video up, and our second video is being edited right now. Check out our channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIsv9x7OOkEsxuCa1U9NUmQ and our video:
  4. I found this new metal blog, the guy does reviews and shit on heavy metal, thrash metal, hair metal, and hard rock. I thought some of his things were pretty good. The URL is Thrash 'Till Death: The Heavy Metal Refuge - Thrash 'Till Death: The Heavy Metal Refuge
  5. Cool, I didn't know how good it was, and I forgot about For Whom the Bell Tolls because it's bass but I'll try that out.
  6. This is a great reply, I'll try Paranoid and Holy Diver. I knew it would be hard to try thrash, that's why I've tried slow ones like Gods of Wrath. My guitar is a Les Paul Style Epiphone, I'm not sure if it's a good guitar or not I just know it cost around $350.
  7. Oh, I forgot about The Ultra-Violence, that's a good one.
  8. What are the best thrash instrumentals? My top 5 are: 1. To Live Is to Die- Metallica 2. Orion- Metallica 3. Merciless Onslaught- Metal Church 4. The Call of Ktulu- Metallica 5. Into the Lungs of Hell- Megadeth I also like Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) by Metallica, and Obituary and Attack of the Iguana by Hallows Eve. There are a bunch I can't think of right now, but these are my favorites.
  9. Yeah I can see where you're coming from, currently I'm working really hard on Gods of Wrath, but I'd like to see if I should change to an even more promising song.
  10. I've gotten used to the vocals of bands I used to not like such as Sodom, Kreator, Destruction, Venom (I now think those vocals are great), Vio-Lence, and even Overkill who are now in my top 10 favorite thrash bands
  11. Thanks, I'll check them out sometime. I've heard the likes of many of them, but can't remember what they sound like. Vocals always seem to get me because I often search for new thrash to look in to, but a lot of the time I come out empty handed because I don't like the voice. I also find a lot of good bands but forget to write them down which is a problem. I primarily listen to thrash and know a plethora of bands, but I usually listen to the same 20. I do download or buy albums that I remember are good, but only listen to them if I'm feeling like listening to something different. Half of the thrash albums I have are from the same bands, but I do try to expand my horizons by listening to Sanctuary, Xentrix, Defiance, Meliah Rage, SDI, Atrophy, Forced Entry, Hexen, Impact, and the pretty much unheard of Caligula.
  12. I got an original vinyl UK pressing of ...And Justice For All by Metallica that cost just under $75. The price may seem high, but it is completely worth it because it's the best example I've seen of this record, completely spotless and almost nothing is wrong with the album sleeve. Amazing. Just amazing.
  13. I received a guitar for Christmas and started out by learning songs that I could play by using just one string. I am now trying to learn real songs and my favorite genre is thrash. Of course, I can't do thrash songs because they are way too fast and I'm just a beginner, but most thrash bands have slower songs that I can attempt. I'm working on Gods of Wrath by Metal Church and One by Metallica and then some more by Metallica that aren't thrash like Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters. I am also attempting Electric Funeral by Black Sabbath and Mother by Danzig. So far, I can get the notes down, but I have a lot of errors and my timing is messed up, but I'll get better with time. Do you guys know any thrash songs for beginners or even traditional heavy metal or hard rock that I can attempt to play? I'd like to get a lot of replies so I can sort through and find ones that I would enjoy and ones that I can succeed at. Thanks
  14. What do you guys think is the best year for thrash albums? Personally I like 1986 the most, but 1988 is also great. 1986: Master of Puppets- Metallica The Dark- Metal Church Death and Insanity- Hallows Eve Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?- Megadeth Reign In Blood- Slayer Pleasure to Kill- Kreator Game Over Nuclear Assault 1988: ...And Justice For All- Metallica South of Heaven: Slayer So Far, So Good... So What!- Megadeth How Will I Laugh Tomorrow... When I Can't Even Smile Today?- Suicidal Tendencies Forbidden Evil- Forbidden Kill to Survive- Meliah Rage Under the Influence: Overkill The New Order- Testament Sign of the Wicked- S.D.I. Socialized Hate- Atrophy
  15. My favorite metal book is Louder Than Hell: The Definitive Oral History of Heavy Metal. It covers everything from traditional heavy metal, thrash metal, and hair metal, to black metal, death metal, and nu metal. It's composed of interviews from band members, groupies, journalists, and many more. I thought it gave a great look to many different subgenres of metal and gave cool little known stories. Any metalhead should definitely buy this.
  16. Here it is: Metallica Metal Church Megadeth Suicidal Tendencies (crossover thrash, but I'm including them anyways) Slayer Exodus Hallows Eve Forbidden Testament Overkill I think its in order, although some of these bands shift around quite often, my top 2 stay consistent, while Megadeth, Slayer, and Suicidal Tendencies are pretty equal, and then the rest are loosely put in order
  17. Liar, which might seem like a weird choice, but I've known it the longest and I just love how mean it is, they have a lot of other good ones: In My Darkest Hour, Peace Sells, Foreclosure of a Dream, Looking Down the Cross, Hook In Mouth, Take No Prisoners, etc., but Liar is my favorite
  18. I figured as much, I just figured I'd give it a shot. I don't have a whole lot of respect for hair bands, but I still like the music, because it is catchy and sometimes funny.
  19. Where are the hair band threads at? Just because a lot of people don't like it doesn't mean that everybody doesn't like it. I dont really care if there's a thread about it on here or not, but I figured I post one anyway. What do you guys think of Motley Crue, Tesla, Guns N' Roses, Skid Row, Poison, Cinderella, or other 80s hair bands? Who's your favorite? What are the best glam albums?
  20. I'm surprised nobody mentioned Metal Church's cover of "Highway Star" by Deep Purple
