As JBaker said, some people exclude certain sub-genres and call it 'fake metal'. I like metalcore and I listen to a little bit of nu metal yet also like the likes of deathcore and death metal. I admit that I haven't found a black metal band that I like yet, so that might knock me off the ladder in some metal communities. Mention that you like metalcore on some other sites and you'll get ran off the site pretty much.

Hey. I'm Tom, I'm 18 and I'm from the UK. I'm a guitarist and bassist. I'm currently a bassist in a rock band. I listen to a variety of metal genres including heavy metal, symphonic metal, deathcore, melodeath and others. My favourite metal genre has to be symphonic metal. Some of the bands I listen to are; Within Temptation, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Sirenia, Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth, Scar Symmetry, Cannibal Corpse, Black Sabbath, Suicide Silence, KISS, Quiet Riot, Metallica, Motionless in White and many others.
